What do you buy at the Dollar Store?

Let us know about your favorite items.  I like the prices but sometimes I don't buy a lot there because I'm afraid of quality.  DH dislikes generics and I can disguise some items.

I like the plastic bags (ziploc style). Not for freezer stuff (have a food saver for that). At the just-a-buck, their a really good deal. Also, if I have time I will go there before going to the grocery store. Not all things are a good deal, but having a price book helps with that.

I'll noticed powdered coffee creamer is a good deal at dollar general.

I've found some supplies are cheaper there, for example the foil pans that I used for Christmas breads were much cheaper at the dollar store than the grocery store. I've bought first aid supplies too: peroxide, rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs and cotton balls, etc. because they are usually more elsewhere. I usually buy dollar store wrapping supplies for gifts especially the clear plastic to wrap around gift baskets and cute reusable gift bags.

I tend to find household items a lot cheaper like spray bottles for using with homemade cleaners or for spraying my plants, a small broom/dustpan to brush off the stairs, a little mesh cover that goes over our sink drains and stops food and hair from clogging the drain. All these things were much more at bigger stores like Walmart.

I don't really buy food there except the odd bag of candies that DH sneaks onto the counter when we're paying. He's such a child. LOL

All of the above and then some. Office supplies like pens and paper are much cheaper. We do buy food, especially dry goods. We've recently fallen in love with Armour brand meatballs, which cost about twice as much in a grocery store. Also, cleaning supplies, kitchen rags and sometimes linens

I too will ditto all of the above.  There's a $ store not too far from me that sells a lot of grocery stuff.  My favorites include minced garlic in water, roasted red bell peppers, banana chips, honey roasted peanuts, canned tomatoes (I got the Muir Glenn Organic diced tomatoes at the $ store once), cookie decorations, etc.  I also like to buy art stuff for DD; sometimes I even find really decent scrapbooking stuff.  If I make gift baskets for people I normally buy the gift baskets and gift basket wrap there, too.  Small tin cans for homemade baked goods are also easy to find there.  Seasonal decorations; about 1/3 of my Christmas stuff is from a $ store.  Stuff for classroom parties at DD's school -- plates, napkins, small goody bag stuffers.  I have to send a plastic spoon with DD almost every day.  Sometimes she remembers it, sometimes not, but at least it's a cheap replaceable.  $3 is a 1-school-year supply.

Recently DD and I went and got her birthday party invites and goody bags ($3 altogether).  We'll go back later to buy 2 small toys for each goody bag (the kind meant for goody bags that are packaged 3 or 4 for $1) and some sweet treat also, like a lollipop.  That will probably be about $7-9.  Not too bad for 10-12 small goody bags.

The whole point of turkey is to get to the pie.

I got all the utensils for cooking I use while camping.  I also have a ton of baskets that I got for displaying things in my craft booth, and I've gotten bungee cords and barrettes as well.   Sometimes they have craft supplies I find really useful.

I also like to go there for pretzels.

I don't get to the Dollar General, Family Dollar, or Dollar Tree often, but I mostly go on lunch break when I figure out what DD's birthday party theme is for the year. I get most of the goody bag stuff there. #1 was Teddy Bear theme: teddy bear board book, gummy bears, Teddy Grahams. #2 was Rubber Duckie theme: rubber duckie, wash cloth, bubble bath. #3 was Sesame Street theme: plush Sesame Street character purses for girls, Sesame Street plushies for the boys. #4 will be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse coloring books, jump ropes, dominos & playing cards. I think you get better treats for the kids for the same amount of money as the cheap plastic junk usually is. I also go there to fill a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. Easy to fill a shoebox for not a lot of money.

Dollar Tree is my favorite dollar store.  There are a lot of name brand things there too.

I buy really cute gift bags there for $1 and often find very nice cards for just 50 cents.  I've gotten brand name toothpaste there, and perfectly nice toothbrushes, 4/$1.  I like some of their cleaning supplies like The Works.  I like their organizing baskets, relaxation CDs, kids' books, decorations for birthdays, items for care packages and stocking stuffers, etc.  They also have seeds for 10 cents right now!

I bought dust face masks there that broke and maybe one other thing that wasn't very good, but otherwise, I've been very pleased with everything.
