What are your favorite ones, if you read them? Do you blog? Tell us about yours here, too.

    Re: Do You Read Blogs?

I blogged for about 3 years at http://thriftwithflair.blogspot.com My health did not permit me to continue at that time.

Funny enough, I have never read anyone else's blogs I don't think.  I love reading list-servs, though.  I just want to see something come in to my mailbox or be a moderated list like this Dollar Stretcher Community.

Interesting blog, Deb! I'd read that you had one, but hadn't looked it up. It's well worth reading, thank you.

Boy I started one but was told not to blog anymore until I posted pictures, so I stopped altogether.  I am not an avid reader of blogs, figure I have enough stories of my own to tell, no time for others!  lol  But am always interested in anything written, about retro, vintage and frugal days of old.

As a rule I do not read blogs.  I find that I get more overall information on forum sites for the amount of time that I am on the computer.  I figure that I can't do it all and a person could be on the internet 24/7 if they did not establish boundaries.  This is just what works best for me.

I started a blog while I was on medical leave.  I've only posted a few times.  It's not on specific things...just commentary on things that happen in my life or that catch my eye.

You're welcome to read and/or leave comments or not...lol

    Re: Do You Read Blogs?

Gosh, it would take me a week to list all the blogs I read! But some favorite sites are Free Money Finance, All Financial Matters, Baby Cheapskate, The Bargainist, and The Consumerist. And of course, my own blog, Chief Family Officer. A good place to find personal finance blogs is PFblogs.org.

If you don't read blogs regularly, you don't know what you're missing! There's such a wonderful community of bloggers and there's something for everyone. I've learned so much and gotten so many great ideas from the blogs I read. For example, Baby Cheapskate, which I mentioned earlier, posts the best deals on diaper brands every week.

A good way to get started is to pick a reader - I use My Yahoo! because I've had my Yahoo page for almost 10 years now. Google Reader (http://www.google.com/reader) and Bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com/) are also popular. The best thing to do is find a blog you like and read the blogs that are listed in the blogroll (which is usually a list of similar blogs that the author likes). As you find blogs you like, add them to your reader (most blogs have an "RSS" button or clickable text that says "subscribe to this blog's feed" - just click and you'll be able to choose the reader you're using). Pretty soon, you'll be able to scan the most recent posts from your favorite blogs all on one page and it'll be easy to choose the posts you want to read.

     Hope that helps!
