Dear All, The last time that I had a haircut was at least 2 years ago. I "splurged" for a $15 cut (short) & was scammed by a triangular wedge being cut at the back, the wedge at least 2" high. So I've let it grow long ever since, & initially started putting it up (piled at the back of my head) just to keep the wedge from showing. Now the ends are so split that I really ought to get it cut (but left long); however, since it won't grow past 2" down my shoulders, if it were cut atop the wedge blunt, it might be too short to pile up, & I don't look nearly as good with a ponytail. Ah, vanity! Ecclesiastes/King Solomon was certainly right!

I have grey hairs here & there. I have my mind made up that I'm going to grey in & be proud. I'm 57 Heinz Varieties, &, G-d willing, I want to live to be a centernarian, & I don't want to hide what G-d has ordained about our hair pigments changing with no longer being young people. No dyes or rinses for me.

I have not had my hair professionally cut in, let's see, about four years. I have very curly, dry hair, and I have never found anyone who could cut it to my satisfaction--even expensive stylists who were supposed to be curl experts. I had never come out of a hairdresser's feeling like I looked better than I had when I went in, and sometimes I would actually leave the place in tears because I thought my hair looked so awful. So I finally concluded that it was ridiculous to pay for a haircut when I knew I wasn't going to like it. Now I just trim my own bangs in the mirror and occasionally trim away a little in the back if I think it's getting too shaggy. My hair grows much more slowly than it used to, so even without cutting, it never grows past a manageable shoulder length.

Locks of Love won't take dyed or grey hair. I quit hairdressers after a bad experience which took a full 9 months to grow out. It was an easy decision--if I want a bad haircut, I can do it myself and cut out the middle(wo)man. I have had nearly 55 years of Bad Hair Lifetime, so I tint it, let it grow, and tie it back, not that fine frizzy hair ever stays back! Allergy doctor states that gel/mousse particles make sinus and asthma worse, as does breathing hairspray. Many independent hairdressers will barter, so this might cut costs--I used to barter produce and babysitting when I had a good cosmetologist.

I get my hair cut once a year - not to be frugal (although that's what started it) but because I have very curly hair that needs to be cut properly (the same stylist for 14 years) - but in the summer I like to put it up to get it off my neck, it's cooler that way, and it has to be long enough - so I get my hair cut once a year, in August, right before school starts, and let it grow all year.

mmm so i can blame my hormones and gray on my son lol. I think my dd gave me more gray hairs!

I need to have good cuts! it is thick, fine and poker straight plus very soft. ponytails etc don't stay in. just went to a new hairdresser and she cut it off! very layered, razored longest part about 1 -2 inches. I like it cut shorter at first so I can get another month out of it. I like cuts that grow out well that can be wash and wear but can be styled for nice. every 4 mths for a cut is about my schedule for cuts. my hair grows 1/2 to 1 inch a month.

have had long hair and short. short is nicer.

Juju, have you tried the home highlighting kits? I have used clairol natural highlights with success. or for a change hair colour like red that washes out in 20 washes.

THis is a true story. DS#1......11 years ago, his son, 20 months at the time, had ecoli. He nearly died, was in Dartmouth Hospital. The Dr. didnt know what to do for him. My DS hair fell out in one week, most of it never grew back. The Dr said that it was the stress. Thank G'd that He gave the Dr wisdom of what medicine to give our sweet little boy. They started to give him predisone and in 24 hours he started to improve. Today, he is 13. But it is an interesting hair story. I had never heard that stress could make a mans hair fall out. Babs

my hair long very long .. I keep in braids I only had a 2 really cuts one was about 25 years ago and then about 5 years ago a 6 inch trim

I know now why I have gray hair starting it's those boys fault ...

That would explain the rotten mood I was in starting right after giving birth to ds#1 and why it lasted till dd#2 was born 16 yrs later, here I thought it was the boys stressing me out!

hi debra I poll the hair back when I don't have it cut but I have to keep up with the dye in my hair under all the bleach is totally white hair I stared the the gray hair when I was 26 now 20????later its white so let your grow or just do your own thing meaning do what you want..

you know, before i had ds i had straight hair, but after he was born, my hair started curling, the dr. told me it happens to lots of moms that have boys, hormones go crazy!, now it is soft curls, reddish brown(thanks to ms. hair dye,lol)

The last time I got my hair cut was almost a year ago. I had shoulder-length hair and got it hacked off to chin length, but then she got after it with thinning shears . . . Never again.

I looked like a boy. I went to work and proclaimed that I was never getting a hair cut again. My boss looked at me the other day and just out of the blue said "so, you were serious, huh . . . " I was baffled for a minute and then he reminded me about my proclamation.

Now my hair is down to the middle of my back and the only thing that gets cut is my bangs, and that is by me in the bathroom.

The part that really kills me is I now have fabulous, gloriously thick, dark hair. If only it was on the head of someone that knew how to fix it up nice.

I have fragile hair. It splits and breaks easily. I do much better with short hair.

I keep my hair short and I can keep it looking nice. I have found a stylist who cuts my hair perfectly. She also doesn't want to perm my hair. She did, however, change my hair color. I'm happy now that I have heavily frosted blonde hair. I have the right coloring for this color hair. I was a blonde when I was a little girl.

People say that I look better and younger than I did. I think it's because I don't have the stress of taking care of Mom 24/7 and because I have a good haircut.

Back before I had health issues, I could trim my hair in between a good haircut.

I have had my share of bad haircuts. I once got the haircut from ---- at a beauty school when the student gave me mini micro bangs.
