us too, but again, she wants a HANDOUT (ie kids=money/sympathy) not a HANDUP---theres a BIG difference between needing a handup, and expecting a handout ---but this woman uses her children as pawns against their fathers so she gets what she wants, whether its limited visitation, or paying her bills or just giving her $

when we talk to the lawyer on tuesday, we are MORE then willing to pay child support, but honestly? id rather pay the 339 a month TOWARDS rent then give her the $ because she lacks any and all financial understanding(even with her accounting degree)

She works for the lds thrift store and "goes to church" there is NO reason for us to contact the bishop on her behalf as i have previously posted, this is her 4th time being homless and EVERY time the bishop has bailed her out and into a place

i re-read this post, and we sound mean and vindictive~~~~but i honestly have no problem with someone needing a HANDUP, but expecting a HANDOUT is what i have a problem with

If you are referring to an LDS bishop, YOU can contact him (the wards are in the phone book). You just could say Sister so-so is struggling and we are concerned. The bishop will probally send her home teachers out to check on her, who will then chat with the bishop regarding her needs.

We get the baby again on monday in the afternoon(i think 3 pm was the agreed on time, i have to check my notes) until tuesday afternoon! woo hoo!

She still hasnt "talked to her bishop", the daycare she has the baby and the 4 year old in (one day a week? frank and i are going to check out the daycare on tuesday to see what kind of environment she has the kids in) has a "for sale" sign on it, and if i saw the sign on the door to the homeless shelter (camera phone was dead so no pic to verify EXACT reading) but said something along the lines of "this homeless shelter is for those not on social security with a 2 week time limit allowed"-----thankfully we see the lawyer on tuesday, because not only were we concerned about the baby being in a homeless shelter to begin with, we now have the fears of they only have 2 weeks total in the homeless shelter and the waiting list for housing here is an 18 month waiting list, she has been in the homeless shelter for 8 days now

the baby STILL had slight diaper rash (i gave the mother the little tube i had and bought another one so who knows if she actually used it)

For a woman who "missed" her baby when we brought him back and then didnt say anything to the baby, didnt kiss him and didnt hug him....it makes me wonder how much she actually missed the baby, the baby kept reaching for frank from his mothers arms and stopped making all the baby coo noises he had been making in the car on the way there, then looked so sad and kept watching frank as his mother took him into the shelter

This woman, after dropping the 4 year old off at daycare, when frank asked to be put on the pickup/dropoff list for the baby, she actually agreed---BUT the owner of the daycare was standing right there(i have a feeling that had the owner NOT been there, she would have declined)

On the way to work(which had been agreed on tuesday when we dropped the baby off ---this one ride is ok, or rides to the doctor or wic*) she then tells us about a block or so away "oh you can drop me off over here so i can smoke before i go to work" and "i dont know if i have a ride to work on saturday or not, so i dont know if im going in"

*wic: we asked if she had the baby on wic, and were told "no because i havent had a ride"----the 4 year old i can understand not being on wic in the homeless because she may not have a place to put the eggscheese and milk

Awesome news, Latte! And good for you two standing up to her about rides to/from work. If she really wants to go to work she'll use public trans, I think it proves a point.

for those of you that care --heres a mini update

We get the baby today(we have to leave the house to get him in 10 minutes) and we get him till saturday at 5pm.......the mother had agreed to this on tuesday so that she could work on saturday, we called and confirmed pickup last night, and she tells usthe only way we get the baby is if we give her a ride to work today(friday) and pick her up AND give her a ride to and from on saturday---we drew the line we are NOT a taxi cab as there is public transportation here.....she then tells us "well if you dont give me a ride to work on saturday, im not going to go to work"

and to anyone else:

please keep your NEGATIVE comments about what we SHOULD have done to yourself because we came here for a supporting voice, NOT to be attacked as some of the previous posts did

Now, Latte, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE understand that we Forumites love each other & love you. I don't understand why this thread got so mean. I hope & pray that you didn't take amiss the little bit that I said. I think, though, that one of the problems was that 2 different families were being discussed in one thread, & some of the ideas that should have been directed about family A got read as being directed about family B. I'm sorry that you feel that way, however I doubt that that was anyones intention. I wish you the best of luck and hope that this will work out to a situation that will be better for everyone involved.
