~My Family's I am nearly 100% left handed. The only 2 things I do right handed are use a computer mouse and play guitar. I learned guitar in elementry school and they didn't have left handed ones. I work in the travel industry in a call center setting, so all the desks are always set up ergonomically for right handers. Through time I got used to the mouse being on the right and even adjusted it at home because it started to feel funny on the left.

It sounds like you really enjoy crafting. If you sell your crafts you should consider Etsy.com DH sells his turned items there and their listing fees are much more reasonable than eBay.

    I'm not a left-handed crocheter! Big Smile

I love to knit and do make some gifts that are less expensive than to buy, but my family is almost overcome with knitted gifts, so I've been knitting for myself lately. Does anyone else have trouble making things for themselves? All my years of knitting were mostly for the kids.

My Families Interests ~  I have some very old patterns from a few friends and relatives.  I love the older ones the best, they are very clear and consice.  I am doing mostly home decor for now as I am losing weight and dont want to make alot of clothes I may not be able to wear.  : )

My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 7 years old and now I am fifty!  I have crocheted with yarn and thread (bedspread cotton).  Some of my projects have included: 9 foot by 12 foot rug for my living room (crocheted with three strands of rug yarn and N hook--made 6 identical rugs, then whipped all together!), baby items, Christmas ornaments (made each daughter 36 thread ornaments last year for Christmas!), dish cloths, doll clothes, scarves, hats, shawls, filet crochet, etc.

Several years ago, we had 14 people in our home, with my mother-in-law, who had lupus, needing care.  I would take her for doctor's appointments and crochet while waiting.  Over a five-year span, I made 200 afghans or one afghan every ten days!  My friend, who watched me during that time, says, "You were a woman on a crochet mission!"  HA!  Crochet relaxes me and, at that time in my life, it was a great stress-reliever!

When I am stressed and feeling overwhelmed emotionally, I get BUSY!  I crochet 72 thread ornaments in a week, sew new curtains for my whole house, make 100 jars of jelly, or cook supper for all of my neighbors!  When my husband walks in from work and sees eight home-baked pies on the cabinet, he steps very LIGHTLY!  HA!  Another thing I do when I'm really stressed is change my hair color!  When my family sees that I've been three DIFFERENT shades of blonde in a week, they know to give me wide berth!  HA!

I forgot ! I use my right hand for the mouse too. I just do it naturally, it actually makes me faster on the computer.  I failed guitar in grade 8 music. but since I am musically challenged to say the least.  Actually Jimi Hendrix was left handed and played with his guitar strings strung upside down. There is a story that when he was in the army and playing in a band, he would pawn his guitar and the band members would have to get it out of hock because there was no other one for him to play!   Yes I enjoy crafting  lol,  you can see it in my closets, my soap phase, gel candle phase, a serger, quilts (waiting for the kids to get bigger before trying that again).  So beading is the next phase. Hopefully I want to get enough made to sell at craft fairs etc but life has its way of butting in :)  Actually I was inspired by a friend who makes jewellery. She works in a car shop where they sell old cars parts etc for people who restore cars. She has a display of earrings by the cash register. She says now that you bought something for you...what about the wife lol!   Thank you about the etsy idea. I had heard of it but haven't looked into it.  My husband turns pens etc too and I have sold some on ebay.  Same problem as me lack of time.

The only thing I have ever knit for myself is a hat and scarf. Everything else is for others.

My husband and I just returned from a 2500 mile each way--5000 mile round-trip from Houston to 100 miles northwest of Seattle.  We pulled a trailer with 4,000 pounds of weight-lifting equipment, taking it to our son, who competes in World's Strongest Man.  My husband drove and I crocheted ALL THE WAY.  I have two afghans almost done--just need to whip together!

Yes, my wrists and my fingers hurt, also.  I feel sure that it's some type of arthritis, but it just makes me crochet faster.  I am afraid if I stop, I may never be able to do it again and I have LOTS of projects that I want to complete before I die--HA!
