    Comparison shopping sites

Do you use them? Which ones? That's the topic of a new poll on Dollar Stretcher: Comparison Shopping Sites: Readers' Poll

Take the poll, then let's discuss it here. I seldom use one, but occasionally use Pricegrabber or Dealtime. I don't do that much shopping online, but with Christmas coming up, I may use them more often.

Are there any other good ones besides those listed on the poll?

I use Google Shopping more than anything else.  I like Yahoo but they require an account and I prefer not to spread personal info everywhere.  Shopzilla is OK but limited.  You have to watch ratings on Google Shopping because I just got burned on a lowest-price seller of laptop coolpads who sent me open-box merchandise with missing and bad parts.

That's good to know! Were you able to return it?

I've sent two e-mails to geeks.com  and neither have been answered.  I gave them an ultimatum on the third e-mail, sent at noon EST, to respond by noon PST tomorrow the 19th.  If I haven't heard from them by then, I'm putting out the word on Bad Business Bureau and its kindred sites.  It was only $28, but that's money to me and a third of that was shipping!

Sounds frustrating. I hope you get your money back, or at least satisfaction from reporting them. $28 is nothing to sneeze at!

I've rarely used them, maybe only once or twice. It just isn't my way of shopping.  So I voted that I don't use them.  Edey

I also use Google Shopping.  If I can get something a dollar or so more expensively at another shop that accepts PayPal I go that route so I know that I have recourse through PayPal to get a refund if the item isn't as described or never received.

    Joyous:

I'm not sure I understand what these sites are.

They're sites with programs (shopbots)  that search for products for you, with the prices listed so you can see at a glance who has the lowest price. Sounds great, but they only bring up sites that are already in their database, so you can sometimes find lower prices on your own, or with the help of a regular search engine.
