As with all other things, a good value is relative.

I used to work at a consignment boutique where the customers were thrilled to pay $17 for a used blouse. I think that's outrageous, but if you're used to paying $65 for a blouse, $17 is cheap.

For the person paying $17 for a used blouse at the consignment boutique, $3.98 at Goodwill is a bargain.

For the person paying $1 or less for a blouse at other thrift shops, Goodwill isn't such a great bargain.

Because I have found other less-expensive sources for clothing and merchandise for my family, Goodwill is too high for my needs. I don't shop there, but since they are still in business and have a high turn-over of products, others are still finding good values there.

The GoodWill's in the Phoenix metro area are all different in prices, they do however have clothing arranged by size.  Every other Saturday they all have half price sales and that's when I go.  Some days I don't find anything and have better luck at other thrifts.  We are lucky that we have so many!

I had the exact same turndown for a piece of furniture.  However, here in southern Virginia, where jobs are scarce and don't pay much, the Goodwill will take about ANYTHING in the line of furniture and applilances, charge way too much for it, and get the price, because people re desperate.

    Welcome, Yancey.

The Goodwill stores in my area are very picky about what they take. What they won't take we will set out at the curb the night before trash day, knowing that someone will come along and pick it up before the trash gets picked up the next day. Edey

    Re: GoodWill stores

On Sat. DH and I stopped into a GW store located about and 1hr or more drive away (I know just wasting gas in my opion). I was just totally shocked at this tiny dirty musty smelling store and talk about rude emoplyees. One guy was standing at the desk and every other word out of his mouth was a swear word and the girl working their was doing the same thing. So we left. You couldnt even walk around it was that compact with JUNK. So I dont think we will ever be going back to that one again.

All tho we are still GW shopping. I will not let that one store stop me from going.

At my Goodwill stores they have 99 cent Sundays ,a certain colored tag is 99 cents and that's for everything form t-shirts to pants. I rack up but only when I need something.
