Dear All, On Labor Day, my Food Stamps come in, & we'll do the major monthly food shopping at Whole Foods. I got the bright idea of choosing recipes IN THE STORE, so thAT I would be able to price ALL the ingredients for each dish. As I expected, cabbage (organic) is cheapest -- I can get either Napa or Savoy, both are nice. (It's 99cents/lb.) One head of cabbage will make 2 dishes; I only need to wrap the 2nd half of the cabbage tightly. I decided to make from Madhur Jaffrey's WORLD VEGETARIAN cookbook the following 2 items:
Chinese sweet-&-sour cabbage -- I only need orange marmelade, which I can use in lots of other ways.
&
Chinese stir-fried cabbage with a gingery milk sauce. (I'll use soymilk.)
I also picked up the specials flyer.
It will now be very easy to prepare my shopping lsit. Yours in Him, Deb
