    Hey there and hello!

A big hey there and hello to everyone from Kelly in Kentucky!

I just signed up here the other day, but I've been too busy reading the site to post an intro to myself. I found Dollar Stretcher through a post in the Frugal Knitters group on Ravelry.

I've been looking for sites with tips, information or just a community of others trying to get the most bang for their buck.  I am your typical college grad that is in debt, but not because I abused credit cards (which I didn't).  My family couldn't afford to help me out with money for college, so both my undergraduate and graduate degrees were paid for by student loans.  I know with my degrees I could've gotten a great paying job anywhere outside of Kentucky, but I wasn't concerned with making tons of money and I didn't want to move away with a sick grandmother close to home (she recently passed away).

My current job barely pays enough to pay the bills and allow me to enjoy my favorite hobby of knitting, so I'm always looking for ways to save on things so that I can have a little spending money.  I know I need to really work on a strict budget for myself, but I'm not sure where to start.  I'm hoping I can find some things to help me here, but haven't had enough time to go through everything on the forums and the rest of the site.  If anyone has anything they can share with me that helped them, I would greatly appreciate it!

To start a budget, you need to keep track of everything you spend, right down to the impulse buy for less than a dollar and including all bills, for a month or more. Then separate your purchases and bills into categories and get it down on paper so you can see what's going on. That will give you a start on seeing where you're money is going, and then you can begin to make it go where you want it to.
