     Happy, that sounds delicious. Babs

    Thanks Babs

It is the one thing I get requests for every year.

It would be healthier without the caramel but what fun would that be.LOL

Wow I can see why you preserve so much food then!  you need it.

*shows off orange fingernails*  I help my parents with the tomatoes in exchange for a few jars.  Nothing like spaghetti from home grown tomatoes!  My parents' garden and canning ambitions are much smaller than when I was a kid, but I try to help them out with the garden a bit since I can't have my own yet.

    I can butter .

How do you can butter?  Since I only have a fridge freezer, that would be a way for me to conserve space.

I had family in from out of state this past weekend, so only got 20 quarts of cherry/lemon juice done.

That's important!  Plus, you're carrying on a family tradition.  I've canned in small batches even when I lived in an apartment and had to rely on purchasing food at grocery stores and farm stands.

BTW, *admiration of orange fingernails*  Big Smile

On our end of the earth (South Africa) we're into spring already, with winter just past.

However, I am gladly accepting any citrus fruit anyone is willing to part with and bottling marmalade. Several friends have lemon, orange and even grapefruit trees that are just laden.

Not only will this keep us eating delicious, glossy orangeness  for months to come, but it makes a lovely gift too.

I am looking forward to applying all your winter storage advice in about 6 months time!

    Tracy-Jayne,

Welcome to the Forums!  We have other members at your end of the earth, namely Australia.  It's good perspective for us.

Marmalade is wonderful!  My friends and I made orange marmalade and four fruit marmalade in the winter from gifts of Christmas fruit!
