Craziest Thing I ever did to save money...

    1. Washed out good quality ziploc bags to reuse. As long as they had not contained meat, poultry or any greasy item they were fair game.

    2. Refilled the small Sunny Delight personal size bottles with juice to send in my husbands lunch.

    3. Watered down the shampoo, laundry detergent, fabric softener etc. To make it go further.

    4. Figured out when (5am on Thursdays) the local market was going to mark down all packaged luncheon meats and cheeses and then staked out the area until the guy finished the mark downs. Another woman and I were there week after week at the same time. Most times we split the loot.

I guess I don't considered what you did to be crazy.  To me crazy is when someone goes to your house and steals your toilet paper because they are to cheap to buy their own.

What I like to do is keep the extra condiment packages from the fastfood places and not throw them away.  I put them in my dh's lunchbox and have him put them in the breakroom for other people.   I keep the plastic cups the kids get when they order a meal and it comes with it.  When I get to many of those I usually give them to someone who is starting out and needs dishes.  And I will keep the extra napkins and put them in the car for cleanups.

So I guess we both do "crazy things" to save money.

I do all the things in both your lists.  Smile

One thing I've discovered regarding juice/water:  My husband and daughter were going through so much juice that it became cheaper to buy a couple of good water bottles and a larger jug of juice or water, and then refill those, rather than buying individual serving-sized bottles of juice.

I only use 1 sheet of TP at a time almost allmost almost all the time.  I cut 10 or so sheets off at a time & keep them in a cabinet with an open shelf on the top.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise; give thanks to Him, bless His Name. (Psalm 100)
