Yes,Luvd_Lioness, If there had been a composite reply allowed -- read while eating at a table with tablecloth, place mat, nice napkin, & good-looking plates & real silver, I'd have so answered ....  Yours in Him, Deb

    Re: Dining Singly Poll

If I dare to sit on the sofa with FOOD, there are dogs sitting around and/or next to me, hoping something will drop.  Depending upon the aroma, there might be drool.  (I can't stand drool!)  One does not need to see several pair of hopeful eyes while eating, lol.  They get fed first, but act as if everything I cook should be for them!

I have several places to eat.  Kitchen table, dining room table, picnic table in the yard and a small bistro table on an upstairs "patio" area which is really the roof of the kitchen.  Oh, and the sunporch.  I do have TV trays, but usually they are in play holding things being sorted if they are not put away entirely.  I have a storm area set up in the basement, well, I'm working on it anyway, so eventually may have an area there too.  Right now that seating is loaded with bags of paper goods and baby products for an expectant niece's baby shower.  I've wanted to go down and work on organization, but have been somewhat stumped.  Hopefully I can fit in some wire racks (instead of shelves) along the lines of the My Story: A Basement Storage System in this weeks DS articles.

I voted for a table because I have a weakness for pretty table settings on a wood table that is not covered.  I enjoy meals more and eat slower.  I've also spread a vintage tablecloth on a picnic table and eaten from Tupperware and drunk water from a bottle, though.  Variety is the spice of life, after all.

I voted fine dining... but it's really a combination; I eat at the dining room table (the only table; I don't have room in the kitchen for a second table) but my dining room and living room are one big, L-shaped room, and I can see the TV from the table, and it's usually on.

I usually eat at the kitchen table, but often I'll bring a book or catalog with me, so I mix the two options.

I don't ever, ever eat without reading something during.  60 years ago, when I had to make do with the back of the cereal box (niacin, thiamin and riboflavin), my mom said that when I had my own table I could read when I ate.  So I always do.

Me Too!!!  I think there is nothing so wonderful as a good meal with a good book.  I think it is the epitome of fine dining.

    Amen!

But I ran into a problem  - I never ate (while alone) without reading, but I also never wanted to read without eating!  Now I have to control my weight for health reasons, so I've had a hard time making that linkage go just the one way.

I voted that I plop in front of the TV, but it's actually the computer.  :-)  I'm taking online classes and spend a lot of time online.  I rarely turn on the TV.

However, I LOVE fine dining and once in a while will pull out the nice table cloth, nice dishes, etc. and have a nice meal.  I think it's actually healthier to do that.  I'm more likely to fix a complete meal and not rush through the whole dining experience.
