Re: 7.19 & 7.20 Weekend Stretching
I can't believe I'm the first one up today! Of course, I've technically been up since about 4.... Going shopping in about 5 minutes; gonna hit the bargain store first for the bulk (and anything that beats someone else's sale), then I'll hit the rest. Could be as many as 6 places but once I get to the first store they fall one right after the other on a path homeward bound, so no more than 12 miles the whole way through. All food from home this weekend.
DD had a complete melt down last night so I hope today goes much more smoothly.
I can't wait to read all the posts when I get back home!
Putting the ODD in goddess every day!

sunshinetreva:I can't believe I'm the first one up today! You beat me by 10 minutes - Not doing alot today... going out later this morning for a funeral for a former neighbor. The church is close by but a neighbor and I are taking her car.
- Watching movies today... easy day.
- If the humidity decreases, will open up the windows.
- Trying to motivate to cook food. Finding myself eating lots of sugar otherwise.
- Finally slept when the sun did...9:30pm-6:30am!! *does happy dance*

Re: 7.19 & 7.20 Weekend Stretching
I've had a shower and am fixing to get DH up so that we can go watch the start of the bicycle race. Then we have to go get bills at the PD from my girls, go to the bank, the Post Office and buy some new fuses for the central air unit. I don't know why it keep blowing this little fuse but this is about the 3rd time this year.
Today is "date"day so we'll have burgers or something somewhere before we come home. Then hopefully we're in for the rest of the day because it's going to be a scorcher!
DH helped me hang sheets last night but even with both of us doing it, I got so frustrated at trying to get the sheets on the line that I ended up crying and he practically had to do it alone. I think sheets will just go in the dryer from now on so that I can avoid that stress.
Well--off to the race!

Re: 7.19 & 7.20 Weekend Stretching
Well I'm back, busy last two days at work. Worked 12 hours yesterday!! So needless to say, it will be a quiet weekend here. DH is working a men's retreat for church, so he is gone until tomorrow afternoon.
I have a quiche in the oven for breakfast, cool and cloudy here. Something I can eat on all week for breakfast. I put *** and ribs in the crockpot for supper. DH doesn't like them and so since he is gone, great time to make them.
I have a load of sheets washed and they are in the dryer and the whites are cleaning now. After that one more load of laundry. Since it is cloudy and looks like it could rain, I have to use the dryer. I almost have the mound of dishes washed (5 days worth). I don't like doing them and I have no dishwasher since the 2 kids left-LOL. Then some more straigtening and then hope to scrapbook until DH calls. They need help setting up a formal supper meal for this retreat and I am going to help-it should be this afternonn. Then when I get home, I plan to continue my scrapbooking escapade into the evening until the twins are on TV and then relax and watch them.
Tomorrow is church, and whatever I want to do. No money spent except gas to Brainerd and back.

Re: 7.19 & 7.20 Weekend Stretching
Yesterday we ended up taking the short route up to get ds#3 (80 miles w 1 toll) and the long way back (100 miles no tolls). We stopped at a small country store a few miles from the camp to check the place out and got dd#2 a baby cone for $.50 that she didn't finish fast enough and the bottom ended up falling out & the ice cream soon followed. As we were leaving the store dh &I couldn't help but notice that the gas @ the store was $4.50 a gallon went got back on the highway and 10 miles away @ the next gas station gas was $4.20 a gallon there are times that it pays to budget your gas to save money (we filled up @ home where the gas was $4.17 a gallon). We stopped at one of my favorite cheese store two minuets before they were closing and grabbed a brick of 10X (10 yo) cheddar then left that stuff is sharp enough to make your eyes roll back in your head...I love it maybe I'll try aging some myself. Supper ended up being a hot & ready for $5 after being on the road for 4 hours no one was in the mood to cook or wait very long for food.
Today isn't going to be that frugal of a day here since we're preparing to leave on vacation Sun with dd#2 & ds#3 (dd#1 has work, ds#1has work and summer school &ds#2 has summer school so g'ma will be here babysitting ds#3 & the dog). We're going to be getting the banking done and buying groceries not just for the house but for the trip I made sure the room we got has a fridge/micro combo (b'fast will be supplied by the hotel, lunch will be on the road, and supper will be in the room). We're also getting discount tickets for two of the theme parks we're going to (one will give ds#3 1/2 price admission for having a B adverage) and stopping @ AAA for trip ticks and seeing what deals they offer. We have planned 2 days of theme parks, 1 day @ a toy mesuem, dh has been told about a state park with a natural cavern he wants to see and 1 day that ds#3 can pick what he wants to do.
Tomorrow we're going to pack and hit the road I'm going to see if there's a public libary in the area that allows internet so maybe I can get on 1x a day if possible. The route we're going to be taking down will be the senic one along one of the lakes and might come back the thruway as far as the store Toni talks about then take non toll roads the rest of the way back.
Edited to add: by all the ADHA writing in this post can't you tell I'm excited to go?

Re: 7.19 & 7.20 Weekend Stretching
Well I've got laundry going, while Brian & Sarah are at practice. We have a bbq/kids bday party later this evening (around 4pm). I'm taking a covered dish, because,....well, that's just how I am!! lol I thought I had 2 boxes of Italian style pasta salad, but I only have one, so I'm going to whip up a pasta salad using what I have on hand. Should be interesting to say the least. I have a gift already from our gift stash. The kids will make the bday boy a card. It's very hot and humid here already today, so not sure what else, other than making lunch at home.
Tomorrow (Sunday), I think Brian is planning to mow (I hope so....it's looking kinda bad right now). We've been mowing every 2 weeks instead of every week to help save on gas. Of course, it's also helped that we haven't had the time to keep up with it too!! lol While he does that, I'm planning to clean out a few of my kitchen cupboards, take out trash, etc. I figure if I clean out 2-3 cupboards per day, instead of trying to tackle them all, I won't get so overwhelmed and give up 1/2 way through the job! I've got a couple steaks in the freezer that I'll lay out for our supper. It'll be sooooo nice to actually be able to prepare and eat a meal at home, and just enjoy it!! The last week or 2, I just feel like we've been eating on the run too much, and hurrying through any meals I've been able to whip up at home.
At some point either today or tomorrow, I MUST get to Kroger. I don't want to miss their 10 for $10 deals, and I can't believe we're out of milk. I don't think in the 14+ years we've been married, I've ever let us run out of milk!! I did manage to find a loaf of bread in the freezer yesterday, so that helps a lot! I can't believe I've gone over 10 days with no trips to the store!! WOOHOO!! I'm really proud of myself!!

Re: 7.19 & 7.20 Weekend Stretching
Good morning, friends! It's good to have a chance to chat with you. I like hearing about everyone's day.
My brother's visit is over, he's gone home. We had a very frugal visit---we just stayed home, watched DVDs we already have, and had good conversation. DS usually commands all of his uncle's attention and wants him to play constantly, but this visit he was content to let the grown-ups talk among ourselves. I cooked my special meal: smothered chicken, brown rice, and fried okra. For other meals we had cereal or sandwiches.
As much as I don't want to, I am going out to do a little shopping today. We are having dinner at a friends' house tonight to celebrate another friend's birthday. So I need to buy a gift. I usually buy people books but that is kind of selfish b/c the people don't actually love books the way I do. So I am going to buy her some costume jewelry. I don't plan to spend more than $20.
And, as much as I don't want to, I am going to go to Wal-Mart, as long as I will be out and in that direction. Wal-Mart is a necessity---not pleasure shopping---especially not on a Saturday when it will be so crowded!
Tomorrow we will go to church and have a quiet day at home. I hope it will be quiet! I just want time to sit quietly and read.
Hope y'all have a great weekend. I'll check back in later.
Luv ya! ~Dolly
