    Flylady: Shiny Sinks and Shoes

I found the first step helpful. It does feel good to have accomplished something, even a small task. I admit, I did more than shine the sink. I did the bleach cleaning and then gave the counters a good clean too. I organised the cabinet under the sink and moved the drainboard down there. I actually like the idea of using the dishwasher as a dirty dish deposit. Having the sink and counter free of dishes and drain looks so much better!

We have house rules about shoes...outdoor shoes are removed at the door so they don't carry things indoors. I do have indoor shoes I sometimes wear but it's not important to me to have them on.

For those using Flylady, do you have a shiny sink and do you dress to the shoes every day?

I don't do Flylady but just wanted to say "Go Girl!" Sounds like you were on a missing.

And just a quick note: I think I shine my sinks every week or so. But I am a big advocate of never going to bed with dishes in the sink (no dishwasher) and always having the bed made. Both of these daily tasks, in my opinion, always make the house LOOK cleaner than it is. LOL. And as far as dressing to the shoes every day? If it's a work day then I am dressed for work. But any time I am home it's pj pants and tshirt for me and no shoes! I get comfy when I get home. LOL.

    Keep it up Brandy!

    God bless,

    Julie

I try to keep my sink cleaned out most of the time.  We don't have a working dishwasher so we always do the dishes after each meal.  And yes, I dress to shoes every day.  I did this even before I started to follow Flylady (don't usually follow the zone cleaning).  My DH likes to kid me that the first thing I put on every day is my shoes and they are the last thing I take off every night.  I have bad feet and cannot go bare footed even in the house.

I have to wear my shoes all day too. If I don't my feet sometimes swell, and almost always, I'll get a lower backache!

Having a "bisque" colored porcelin sink, hard to be really shiny but it is cleaned often.

Shoes? I love summer since I have more options. My feet love to be bare!! I do tend to take off my shoes when entering but when in a hurry, ignore that.

    (no dishwasher)

I didn't have one until I moved here about four months ago. This is my first adult experience with one and I was opposed to using it often. My husband thinks I should use it even if it costs more to run just for the time and energy saving. I may put it to use a bit more on schooling days because I seem really drained come evening....especially on hands on science days, LOL!

My son went to my Mother's for a few days so schooling one child cut down the time which I used in the kitchen.

I agree. And if I find my surroundings pleasant then I am happier and that's what counts, yes?

After falling down the stairs more than once and the nice little lecture from my dr, shoes are on even if they are just flip flops (they have better traction than comfy socks.  I'm trying to teach my guys the sink thing.  They all still think some magic fairy pops in and cleans everything up.  You can imagine their confusion when I was in bed sick...and then the pile waiting for me.

I get up and dressed every day.  I will admit though that sometimes flipflops are my shoe of choice.  I also do not wear lace up shoes to work -- I wear heels 5 days a week and won't change that until the good L-rd or a Dr. makes me!  LOL  If I'm doing anything more than my 15 minutes at a time of cleaning OR when I run my errands (shopping, laundry mat, etc.) I actually have lace up shoes that I like wearing and they do make it significantly easier for me to get tasks accomplished.  I've also noticed that when I feel unmotivated to do stuff that I know should get done I'll put on my lace up shoes and suddenly I feel much more motivated to get the dreaded task done and out of the way.

As for dishes we all try our best around here to get them done as quickly as possible.  We have a dishwasher, but b/c there's just 3 of us and the pots can't go in the dishwasher it takes 2, sometimes 3, days to fill the dishwasher.  (I won't do a partial load.)  So, I'll just make sure there's no food particles on the dishes when they get dropped in the dishwasher.

Putting the ODD in goddess every day!

I don't put shoes on until I have to leave the house (socks in the winter, or moccasin-style slippers) and take my shoes off again as soon as possible after I get home.  I much prefer being barefoot; I find it to be more comfortable.

I clean the sink whenever I use it, because I hate scraping stuff off it after it dries.  Being white enamel, "shine" isn't quite the right adjective, but it is clean unless something is soaking in it.

Re: Flylady: Shiny Sinks and Shoes

I don't normally wear shoes in the house. maybe slippers in the winter.    My double sinks are stainless steel. We do dishes just about every day. once, twice or more depending.   I just keep the dirty dishes in one sink.

I scrub the sinks with comet or baking soda them when they need it.  I don't do the wax thing like flylady.   Since the sinks, countertops, stove etc all are wiped down when dishes are done.
