Re: Wednesday 7.16 Stretching the $

Glad to be back again with y'all today.  I wish I could respond individually to all of you.  You feel like friends to me.  My best friend in real life has been on vacation for almost two weeks and I really miss her.  She'll be back tomorrow and I can't wait to see her.

Deb, I am glad you are having a nice visit with your brother.  My brother is coming tomorrow morning to visit for a couple of days so I have a lot of cleaning to do in our office/guest room.

Because of dear brother's visit, I needed to get a few things from the grocery store today.  I just meant to pick up milk, bananas, lunch meat, etc. but I figured I might as well get most of my shopping done instead of waiting until payday.

I spent $83.41 at Bi-Lo.  Bi-Lo had a "Meal Deal" where you could buy two Digiorno frozen pizzas ($6.45 x 2 = $12.90) and you could get:

    ~ Totino's pizza rolls (15 ct.) $2.09 = FREE

~ 8oz. bottle of Kraft salad dressing $2.09 = FREE

~1.5 liter of Lipton Citrus Green Tea $1.79 = FREE

~Bi-Lo brand Southern Home ice cream $3.84 = FREE

I thought this was a good deal b/c I was going to buy the pizza rolls anyway and DS wanted ice cream.  Also, we usually get Little Caeser's pizzas one night a week, which are now $5.55 for a large.  So we can save gas money and have the Digiorno's pizzas.

We weren't really stretchy about lunch but I considered it our treat since we are not really going anywhere/doing anything this week.  DS had Taco Bell for $4.25 and I had McDonald's for $5.71.

DS was so excited to pluck his first two tomatoes off of his tomato plants when we got home.  We will have BLTs for supper.

Hope you all have a great day!  Luv ya! ~ Dolly

Today has been a semi non-stretchy day here.  One of the breakers threw last night and I had to move my scooter out of the garage to get to it.  DH had moved some things around in the garage and I ended up getting tangled up in a ladder and dropping me and my scooter.  I bungled my bad leg up pretty bad and could hardly walk last night.  I took some generic pain relievers which knocked me out until aout noon.  They did help with the swelling and the pain so it feels some better now.  But not good enough to stand on a lot.  So DH heated me some leftovers for lunch and I grabbed a Subway sandwich and some pies slices to eat later.  I'll also make some chicken fried rice for DH to have when he gets home.

I have to rest because tomorrow is another Moonlight Madness sale!

Pretty stretchy here, just gas to work and back and $5 for a 15 min massage (the place I work pays $10 and we pay $5). I usually get one once a week.

Woke up at 4 am to the weather radio going off, thunder, lightening and a downpour!! It has been humid and cloudy most of the day. But hear it will be nice this weekend!!

Leftovers for supper and fresh strawberry pie. Mon night a friend gave me 10# of strawberries. I made 7 pints of jam, a fresh pie, and froze a few packages,Tues night. Yum!

Tomorrow is my day off, so hope to get caught up in the house, laundry, dishes, etc. Have a closet to clean yet also.

    Julie  :)

Are you near where the tornado hit last week? Right now I'm getting heavy rain and thunder/lightning...it's either drought or flood around here. No such thing as a gentle summer rain.

Applied for a night job at the hospital, one day is all it took from the time I got put  on probation to applying.   I am better than that!  The comment had complaints about half the staff, but my name was the only one mentioned, so I got written up, after a rich mom''s complaint that I wasn't welcoming enough.  After 9 years, I'm looking.  Would be much better money.

Go for it Tracy!   From what you have written the past, it doesn't  sound like they value you.  I know it is handy so you can take the kids.

ended up going to the park meeting friends for most of the day. kids had fun playing in the playground and water park. bought lunch.  bought a tub of popcorn from concession to share.  hopefully the kids will sleep early.   managed to clean the bathroom and hand a load of wash but that is about it so far!

Re: Wednesday 7.16 Stretching the $

I spent part of the day shopping for clothes for work..I start back Monday and dress code has changed (again!)...plus I have gained 20 lbs since last Nov ! I need at least 5 outfits and I only have 2 ..of course thats better than when I left this morning ..I had none then ! I found a blouse at Wal-mart on clearance that I can wear with a pair of slacks I already have and I found  a pair of slacks and  a blouse at Goodwill ..so 2 outfits now and spent  $11.00 ..not great  but not bad either . I will go again in the morning to a little larger town to the south of where I live ...they have a mall there so I will check  as there are a lot of sales going on this month . Also another Goodwill there .

This evening Hubby and I went to Lowe's to look for a small regular fridge for the camper . We found one  with a dent at the back  for $159.00 a great buy . The dent will be hidden as we have remodeled a closet to fit to make the fridge fit in. It is black and i wanted white but for the price ...I`ll live with it .

And ...hubby made a big stride in our quest to be more frugal...he ate  store brand mayo ! I know that doesn`t sound like a biggie but it has been a challenge  getting him on board to change his way of eating . I have always eaten store brand ...if its mayo I`ll eat it !..but he always had to have kraft which is close to $3.00 for a small container and I got the store brand on sale for 99 cents a qt !  And he said ..not much difference is there ? !  Small steps toward our more frugal life style !

    Hey Lynn!!

While at lowe's or walmart look in the paint dept. and buy spray appliance paint. I lived in a rental once where the fridge door was COVERED in rust,(but it was flawless on the inside) spent $3.50 on the appliance paint, and it looked like new. It was great. The fridge looked new. That way you can have the great price and the color you want!. That paint is also good for mobile home doors, freezers, stoves, etc.

    Bless You All!
    Lynn
