Dear Nanagain, I totally sympathize with the fact that the showerhead fix is going to be expensive, but I could not help -- plese pardon me! -- giggling a little at teh extraordinary circumstances that you described!

    Yours in Him, Deb

So was I Deb. I stopped over @ the plumbing supply store and spoke with the manager who knows I don't mind doing my own work and that I hate calling the pros in. He told me a couple things that I'm going to try doing to make the repair myself. I also got a look at the pile of work orders for both today and tomorrow from the looks of it if I have to call the plumbers in it might be wens or thrus before they can get to me.

    Good afternoon all

Luvd Lioness I hope you get some much need rest sometime today.

Deb I know you're excited to see your brother, I hope you have a wonderful visit.

Nanagain good luck on your plumbing repairs, I understand how you feel - I hate to call the plumber and then have to wait for him.

Well it's turning out to be a semi stretchy day here.  Took ds#2 to tennis this morning but it started raining right before we got there so it was cancelled.  So he and I went to wally world. I discoverd over the weekend that he had NO dress pants that will fit him.  So, while we were in wally world we looked at dress pants and shirts.  They had some marked down to $10 each so we found him 2 pair and he got a new white dress shirt for $11.  Now he has dress clothes for the wedding we are attending in a couple weeks, social functions at school and for church.  He is growing like a weed and I could not find anything at Good will in his size the last time we were there.  I also picked up a red onion, fresh cilantro, a jalapeno pepper, and some orange slices they had on sale.  But I didn't buy anthing extra and that's usually hard for me when I go to the wally world.

No laundry here today since it rained this morning.  Will have a ton to take care of tomorrow when the sun comes out.  All meals will be from home today.  DS#1 & DH took lunch from home.  DS#2 and I had hot dogs with mac & cheese. Supper is taco soup nachos, pico de gallo, and rice.  Dessert will be some orange sherbert that we have in the freezer that needs to be finished off.

Staying home today except taking ds to work and stopping at the bank to cash some produce checks..about 18 miles round trip.

Have ALL my laundry done and either hanging on the line or folded already! Very breezy and cool...about 72.

Dinner is spaghetti with my last jar of home canned sauce and .99 italian sausage from the freezer. Canned green beans from last years garden, and I'll have to go out to the garden and cut some lettuces for salad. Trying to still eat out my pantry & freezer.

Good day here - I worked all day for a family who had a graduation party over the weekend. It was catered by a fabulous barbecue place and the mom ( who doesn't like bbq ) told me to take as much as I wanted because just her husband really liked it. Smile Well, her husband deserves to eat all the bbq he wants, but I did take a baggie of ribs and pulled pork since my hub loves it! Wasn't that sweet of her? Very kind of her.

We are planning a sudden trip to the lake tomorrow for swimming and boating (and cleaning the cottage) so I need to have a rest now and then pack the car with my vac and carpet cleaner, plus other supplies, plus the BBQ mentioned above, LOL.

The weekend was a good one for sales from my website - three people signed up for a class that starts in sept. and today I shipped out 8 copies of my book to other people who purchased it over the weekend. I was able to take some income out of the business this week and put it toward paying down debt, which has been my goal with building up the business.

off to rest, then pack, then sleep. peace.

Since I seldom leave the house on Mondays (have to recover from the weekend with DH home), it has really been a stretching day for me.

I brought in two loads of laundry from the line this morning.  I do like line drying since folding clothes is something I hate and put off and they come off the line and are folded straight into the basket! DH used the dishwasher this weekend so I've unloaded it and am doing the others he dirtied.  How one man can dirty so many dishes just to make rice or pasta is amazing!  I have bacon in the toaster oven.  I cook up a whole package at once and keep it in the fridge in a ziplock bag.

DH works 4 hours over tonight so he'll just want a sandwich when he gets home.  I had leftovers out of the fridge.

Tomorrow will be a library trip!

Dh made a discovery today in our house!  We have wood floors!    He gets extra days off in the summer so he was home today. I asked him to rip out the carpet in the hallway since it is worn and I am tired of cleaning it.  We knew that there was lino underneath the carpet.  When he was pulling the underlay up, some lino tiles were loose and he discovered wood flooring. Fir.  In great shape.  There is wood under our bedroom carpet too but will have to see what condition it is in when we pull the carpet up.  dining room looks like lino and kids room has lino for sure. what is under that we will see.

I guess they laid the lino over the floors just a couple of years after the house was built. my boss said it was common in the 50's because wood was hard to care for.  I never would think someone would cover wood with lino. Would have ripped up the carpet years ago.

Now we bought laminate wood flooring half price to do everything except the living floor but we can always sell what we don't use.

in other news. a stretchy day no spending. need to go to get milk but do it tomorrow. went to work, dh bought the kids to grandmas.  bought a frozen pasta dinner for lunch with apple and manderin.  leftover chili for dinner.

neighbour came over for some accting info and a friend dropped off a tool he has borrowed months ago.  hot and sunny so had to water some plants and baskets before bed.

Martha, we found that in our house. Some of the wood floor , we refinished. Looked beautiful. So much better than ugly, smelly carpet. Babs

Its funny I can see putting carpet over wood but lino? in a hall.   In very old houses like 1911 etc I can see it but ours was built in 48 so that is not old by new west standards.

My house is the same way all but the addition (built in 1980) has wood floors. I found it in the diningroom when I took out the shag rug (who wants carpet in their dining room when they have dks?) pad, tile and tar paper was wood floors. I sent a mont removing everything and re doing the floor. When we started on the bedroom dh and I discussed leaving the tile in place but several of the tiles are either broken, poping out or have pits in them so we decied to remove them and the tar paper to get to the wood floor. We will be putting carpet over it but if we change our mind avout the carpet at least we have a nice floor under it.

My house was built for a grandma that sold it to a couple with a 10yr old who lived here for decades. then that son inherited, wife got it in the divorce and sold it to us. Their daughter lived in it for a while and I guess that is when the carpet went in.

We have maple floors in the living room, never covered up.

just boggles me because that floor would have only been down for a couple of years before being covered.  tastes and styles I guess

I agreed about the carpet. that is why I wanted it up worn and dirty. so tired of cleaning it. same in the kids room.  though why I waited until now, I don't know. sleep deprived brain. the amount of times that carpet has been peed or puked on.   I know I spent too much time cleaning the living room rug too. sigh.
