Mom has an account with Verizon including the inside wire maintainence. The phone lines are so full of static that I cannot make or receive phone calls. Repair Service says they cannot repair anything until July 25,2008 by 7PM. Today is July 11,2008.

They do not care that we are unable to use the phones.

I reported the need for immediate phone service repairs at the Verizon website after I got back upstairs from trying to report the need for repairs.

Meanwhile I will buy new telephones over the week-end.

That really sucks.  I'm sorry for your mother, that she's having such problems, and I sincerely hope that new phones fix the problem.  I don't like Qwest - but I will say that the one time I needed service on the inside line, I called Sunday morning, and someone showed up that Sunday evening, and fixed illegal changes the previous owners of the house made, without charging me extra (and he should have) .... can't really fault their customoer service.

It means that I can't make any phone calls from the house. I live at Mom's house and she is in a nursing home. I am not a happy camper. We've had a lot of rain lately. I do not know what has caused the problem.

I have one of those Pay as You Go Verizon Cell Phones.

How did the new phone work out? My mom had this problem in the past and it turned out to be the phone. She doesn't have Verizon though, just a local company. A new phone fixed her troubles.

I think the problem is in the lines. Tomorrow I will get new phones. There is static on the phone downstairs in the kitchen. I unplugged the other phones.

Normally I would say new phones would cure it, but we've had terriible rains in the past few weeks. It will have something to do with the lines.

Tomorrow I am buying a new phone card for my cell phone. My cell phone is a pay as you go Verizon.

 In the past, we have ahd trouble with our phone when there was hard rains. They finally came and changed all the outside wires with new ones. Babs

That is really bad that they won't fix them any sooner than that.  I have my phone service through Cox cable and one time I completely destroyed the cable when I was trying to till up an area in my back yard for a garden.  The guy on the the phone (I called using my cell phone) was really cute because he said "let me do a quick system check to make sure it really is a problem with the line and not with the phone itself".  I told him it was definitely the cable line because I could see the two shiny, separated (and mangled) ends laying on my yard.  He said "ok, we'll have someone out within the hour to fix the phone.  We won't be able to get the internet back for you til tomorrow, but the phone is a critical need and has a 2 hour turnaround time for being fixed."  The repairman was out there within the hour and the phone was back up and running.  Not to mention that they redirected my cable across the yard, encased it in PVC and buried it deeper.

When the phones are working again I intend to blast them. I own close to 600 shares of Verizon stock. I am so mad right now that I am really close to having my broker sell them.

The wires are buried in places.

Believe me if Cox ever comes down my street I will get a bundle----phone service, cable, and internet.

It's really something to have to communicate with the nursing home Care Plan nurse by email !!!!

That's what I think is the problem now.

Normally I am easy going about stuff in the house, but this delay in repairing the telephone is for the birds.

I am thinking of selling my Verizon stock.

I think that's what is the matter now.

Verizon is not known for great service in my area except for cell phones.
