Glue Sticks - They're acid free, so great for use in scrapbooking, cardmaking.

Notebooks/composition books - I use these for my daily to-do lists.

Crayons/markers - great to have on hand if you have small kids. Save some for stocking stuffers, Easter baskets, birthday party favors, etc.
Markers and crayons for coloring and craft projects.

Spiral notebooks: I write down recipes I want to try in them. I get the magazines from the library or from friends, and then I just write down the ones I want to try. I also have notebooks dedicated to kid's craft ideas I come across and frugal tips.

Crayons are 20 cents at Walmart this time of year so we buy 50 boxes and get dollar store curling ribbons and tie on them for party favors for both kids. We also get the washable markers when they are 88cents and buy like 10 some for home, some for stocking stuffers. Sometimes if I have enough cash on hand I buy extra crayons, markers, construction paper, glue sticks, scissors etc., playdoh and put together in cutre dollar store bags to use as gifts when my kids go to birthday parties. It turns out to be about a $7-$10 gift and every parent we've ever given one to their kid at a party is thrilled and thankful that its not useless junk. We also do this for secret Sister gift exchange too.

I also bought extra crayons this year because I plan on putting a box of crayons in each of your Christmas gifts story sacks.

I picked up some colored pencils I am going to put them in my dd's art tote that I'm making her for Christmas.

    Re: Shopping Challenge: School Supplies

I hope I have figured out how much paper we may use in a year. I also am stocked on what I estimate to be a year's worth of crayons and glue. The pens likely won't last but a couple of months with my husband snagging them for work and loosing them.

    "MARKERS,PROCTRACTORS"

I had forgotten those. My youngest will need markers in her art supplies and my older one likely does need a protractor. Thanks.

I always buy extra supplies to give to the teacher's so they can give them to kids who's parents cannot afford school supplies.

I signed up for a school supply hand out yesterday, our day is August 26.  I also went and got free after rebate an 8 pack of washable markers and a two pack of gel pens at Walgreens.

Good reminder, gayla!  Virginia's is the same weekend!!  Thanks for reminding me -- there are *always* great sales on school supplies and kids clothes for the tax-free weekend.  Yay!

Not to make you guys too jealous, but in MN there is never tax on clothing.  It is considered a basic necessity.
