Party and Gifts for a Princess

The empress of our home will be five tomorrow! I can't believe she has gotten so big already.

She asked for a tea party to celebrate. Since she will be the only small child at this gathering but we are a bunch of tea drinkers, I decided that would be fun to do. I went shopping for supplies and gifts today.

    Refreshments and cake:

    • Cake mix, frosting, pink sprinkles, pink happy birthday candies and candles for a home made birthday cake
    • fruit punch mix
    • pink frosted animal crackers
    • chips

    Party decorations:

    • Pink cups, plates and napkins with princess designs
    • Pink tablecloth
    • A vase of pink flowers
    • A string of pink flowers

    Gifts:

    • A ceramic butterfly pattern tea set
    • School supply set of pink folder, crayons, glue, princess pencils and princess pencil pouch
    • Wood princess plaque for the wall in her room, the flowers used for the party are also for decorating her room
    • Gifts for her brother to give her: insect house, plastic baseball bat and ball, plastic badmitten (sp?) racket and birdie

Total Cost of tea for a princess: $44.99

Wow Brandy, sounds like you got some good stuff for the princess!  My DD also had a princess party several years ago.  I went to the goodwill and bought mixed matched china for the occasion.  I decorated with lots of blue and white balloons and tulle(Cinderella theme). Her and 5 other girlfriends(5yrs old as well) had finger sandwiches(PBJ), etc at their princess tea party with pink lemonade and a homemade princess cake.  I made little blue tulle skirts for the princesses(bought for 50 cents/yrd at WM) and even a couple of capes for the princes'.  Enjoy  it while you can, if I would even mention a princess party or the like now to dd, I would get an  eye-roll of monumental size!      How cute.   I love your ideas.

Do you have a mini muffin tin?   If you do, and if you want, you could make a smaller birthday cake and then have some mini cakes to go along with the tea theme.    Everything is mini at a tea party.

No, I don't. I was wondering if there were other things I could add in and that's a great idea. I also considered getting a block of chocolate to melt for chocolates.
