    I am rejoining today too

I didn't realize, when I started lurking here lately, that I had already joined in.  I looked back and I only posted once and it was in May of 07, so I'm just starting over.  So, here goes.

Hi, my name is Jill.  I am from Minnesota and I have three wonderful children.  Aaron is 7, Christina is 3 and Anthony will be one next Friday.  I have been a SAHM for about 3 or 4 years now and with my dh's hours I really can't get a job that will pay enough for me to go back to work.  I am very tired of living paycheck to paycheck, wondering when we might have a little extra money for this or that.  I know that most of my problem is overspending on things that are not needed - you know $100 trips to Walmart.  If I had started this the first time I "joined"  I wouldn't be sitting here trying to figure out how I am going to come up with money for the new water heater I just found out we needed, plus the money it's going to cost to install it.

I've been lurking for a few days and thought that I might get more out of the experience if I actually participate.  I am scared and excited and ready to start.

     Jill

Welcome back!  Jump in anywhere.  When it comes to stuff like cars, major appliances, etc. I always find that asking people I know helps.  My co-worker's son-in-law sold me my new (to me) car.  Another co-worker does carpet steam-cleaning on the side and gives employees a HUGE discount.  You may know someone that recommend a reputable individual to install the water heater at bettter than average costs.

Hi, Jill.  I'm new like you.  I'm reading Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover; it makes a lot of sense.  I just started an emergency fund like he suggests.  I'm sorry about your water heater.  My family and I lived on one income for twelve years, so I know what something like that can do to your finances.  I wish I'd read Dave's book years ago.  (Or maybe I just needed to get serious before.)  Good luck, and keep us posted.
