Anyone ever buy coupons from eBay?

Have read about and seen coupon listings on ebay . . . anyone have any experience with this?  Is it worth it?  They are pretty cheap but just wondered if anyone has done it before?  I would only buy ones for things I use a lot and that wouldn't be expiring right away.  If you've ever done this, I'd love to hear what you thought!

I only tried once. We had rec'd. a Lowe's (building supply) plasticky gift card in the mail for 20.00 off 50.00 purchased. It came addressed to us, we used it, fine.

So the same week I saw a guy auctioning these same (at least the picture was the same) cards, so I bid on and won one for 1.50 plus .75 for mailing. Immediately, the seller sends me a email attachment of a paper print of the same card...the store doesn't accept those. I emailed him back and told him this was bogus, and to credit Paypal for my payment. He did, within 5 minutes.

    I haven't tried again.

I have not, but I have sold them. I should do it more, but I forget. I start the bidding at $ .01, and shipping is the cost of a stamp. If it is the kind with an e-mail code that can be used over the interent, and the person prefers, I credit shipping and just e-mail thme the code.

I don't sell the grocery item coupons, but more the type that are "spend this much and get $$ off, of % off"

I have bought one when I was buying a pair of shoes, and saved $20. I think the coupon was like $1.

Not eBay, but just this week I got some from www.thecouponclippers.com/.  I read about it in an article on here.  They do charge a "clipping fee" per coupon and s&h, but for $5, I got $75 in coupons for items that I actually use.  Even if I only use one of the $5 off coupons I got, it will have paid for itself.  (I like how organized the site is.)

I prefer to take my chances with grocery store cards that bring savings. I also clip coupons and use them. I just joined the Coupon Train on DS.

I would be happy to clip coupons and include them in the Coupon Train if you will send me a PM. Sometimes I see the rebate forms for school supplies in the newspaper.

There used to be decent coupons besides for places to eat in the Entertainment Book when I used to buy it.

I've bought coupons from eBay a lot--for Spam, chili, canned chicken, spinach, Dr Peppers, Jello,  frozen veggies, biscuits/rolls/bread.  I've had great luck with all of them.  Just watch your expiration dates on the ads for the coupons.  Know  what you will/can use at your stores.  I've not had any problems but I check the sellers out via feedback before I buy.  And I make sure they have shipping stated and if tey will compine shipping.

    Thanks for all the feedback!

I think I might give it a try.  After all, it won't cost much to try and could potentially save me a lot!  I was looking at some coupons for the cat food that I usually buy-$2.00 off and there were 10 of them.  It would only cost me $1.50 to get them so I would be ahead just using one!

I think it might actually be better buying coupons than buying the Sunday paper for me.  There aren't usually a whole lot in the paper that I would use; I like the idea of being able to pick the ones that I know I'll use.  Thanks for the coupon clippers website too-I'm going to check it out!

I can't figure out how people are making money selling coupons . . . larger value ones sure, but after fees on .50 or .75 cents or whatever, they must be making pennies!  Hey, whatever works, right!

I agree! I don't use coupons because the ones in our Sunday paper aren't for things I'll use.  I generally end up "losing out" by buying a paper for the coupons. This could be a good solution for me. Thanks for this question Jennylyn!

Jennylyn,  I have not done this personally but have had a friend buy them with good success.  I have seen coupons listed on our local Freecycle group, so that is another place to try.  People would rather give away than see them go unused.  You could join the west coast coupon train, take out what you wanted to use and put in an equal amount of ones you don't use; that's just stamps and time.  Don't forget the online sites like Hot Coupon World, Penny Pincher and Taylortown Preview (clipping service).  Plus individual store sites seem to have printable coupons, and you might check your favorite brand websites to see if they have internet printable coupons as well.
