    Hello

I've been lurking here for several months now and have so enjoyed reading everyones' posts!  I'm a SAHM at present(the last 8 years) but am a registered nurse by profession and although DH is a firefighter and works a second job as well, things are really getting tight around here.  We are a family of 4 (2 adults and a 9yr old DD and a 16yr old DS who is 6'2" 270lb linebacker who eats "MEAT" like there is no tomorrow), I am trying my darndest to make ends meet without having to go back to work.  We have no family within an hour's drive from us and the 9 yr old can't stay by herself if DH is on a 24 hr shift as DS spends most time after school on the football field.  Anyhoo, that is a long rambling intro, but just glad to be here and getting to know everyone and stretching those dollars! Rhonda

Welcome!   I have a nine yo dd, too! I agree, she'll have to be in daycare for a year or two. Is there one at her school?  Glad to have you on, looking forward to your frugal health tips.

With you linebacker, do you have a freezer where you can invest in a cow and make your meat cheaper?

We do have a freezer, and I buy huge amts of meat when on sale (chicken, pork, beef) and freeze it.  But like yesterday, he ate a pound of ground beef, and 5 chix leg quarters and 7 chix legs plus side dishes (and at least 3 cups of plain rice-his simple carbs)  after football practice and for supper!  And the gallons of milk he drinks, it would be cheaper to hitch a milk cow in the back yard!
