some things are definitely different in the US.   I have been late by a couple of days with credit card payments and the rates don't go up plus no late fees. Of course if you are late all the time, I am sure that is different.   Once a heloc is paid off, you can cancel it.   We could have got a $200,000 heloc. of course we didnt though.
