    Goodbye JUNE!

June has been an absolute financial disaster around here!!  So many unplanned expenses, a house that stayed unrented for a few weeks longer than planned, plus the regular June expenses of Father's Day, Graduations, and a couple of birthdays plus some extra planned expenses . . . it's been nonstop money going out.  Not only did we not improve our financial situation, we backslid!  We haven't had a month this expensive in a really LONG time.  Let me just say I am SO happy that I'm headed into July!  Can't wait to get back on track and restart our debt payoff plan and rebuild our savings . . .

    Re: Goodbye JUNE!

I'm with you...so happy to see June go!  In June my mom was in the hospital, we learned DH is losing his job and our house has been hit by lightening.  We have put out over $3000 in fixes that were needed immediately with regards to the lightening strike.  We have had SO much damage to just about every electronic item  in our house.  While the TVs and computers can wait to be fixed or replaced until we get our insurance check, things like the fried thermostat, central board in the heater, security system and GFI outlets all had to be handled "now".  In addition to that we had a claim with our insurance company two months ago for water damage from a roof leak and a resultant mold problem.  They didn't start the repair work on that claim until this past week...so there went another $1000 for the  deductible for that claim, plus $230 for the roof repair.  I'm worried now that our rate is going to go through the roof or that our insurance company is going to drop us.  We have had only two claims in 23 years of marriage...and they were two months apart!  Add to those expenses Father's Day and graduation parties...UGH...we are HEMORRHAGING MONEY!!!!  Plus DS's tuition of $1260 is due by August 11th and a loan that DS had at his previous college for $1000 is payable by August 30th.  then there will be books bought at the end of August.  Calgon...take me away!

This is one of my very favorite sayings!  And just how I felt June was for us, though goodness, you have really been through the wringer over there.  I am sorry to hear of your house trouble-I can't believe your house was hit by lightening!  That's horrible!  I'm glad that you are able to fix some of the damage while you wait.

Is your DH able to find a comparable job quickly?  How is your mom doing?  I hope things improve greatly for you and your family in July!

Hopeful for ALL of us!!  July HAS to be better than June!  I don't think I've had so many costs in one month ever before!  Looking forward to relief . . .

Thanks for your support! Knowing someone else is there and willing to lend an ear really does help.  Mom's health is slowly improving.  She was hospitalized with BP as high as 230/120.  They may finally have come up with the right combination of drugs as her BP is down closer to 160/90 now.  DH has two interviews next week, so we are very hopeful.  Although dealing with all of the rigmarole of the damage is a pain...I am living quite nicely without some of the electronics.  Now I would never be able to get DH and DS to agree with me, but I could very easily not replace several of the damaged TVs and do just fine!  Of course not having my fax machine is a royal pain!  The insurance adjuster keeps telling me to fax the bills over...and i have to keep reminding him that my fax is fried!  I should be getting a few more invoices in this week.  I think i will give them to DH to take into work and fax for me.  I HATE the idea of paying to fax at the local postal place!

June was not incredibly kind to us but after thinking it over, I realised we have experienced work issues and changes almost every June for the last few years!

I also felt like we were scrambling in June - kids home from college so extra travel costs and food costs, and lots of extra gas needed, ugh. I wasn't prepared, but I am for july. I thought one of my jobs was in danger so I revised our budget and began looking for extra work. Everything calmed down with the job but I found out that we are in fairly decent shape financially, and that I could find work with a few different places that would fill the gap, plus it inspired me to build on my home biz so that future job earthquakes won't mean a thing. I'm really praying for a smoother July to settle my nerves. Surprise
