    Weekend $ Stretching 6.28 & 6.29

How are you stretching your Inflation fighter and pennies this weekend?

    Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
    1 Samuel 12:24
But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

    Saturday:

    • Not feeling good due to a night of not really sleeping.
    • Today I am staying inside... between the motorcycles passing by and off/on storms.
    • Will do a little cleaning.
    • non frugal: it's cooler outside but AC is on to block noise pollution this weekend

We made it through june's bills with extra to spare (going into savings for house repairs) and it feels good. I did have a bad episode yesterday morning when I just shouted out "I want to win the lottery." My husband reminded me that first I'd have to spend some $$ on tickets, lol, which I won't do. I work tonight but have sunday off (wow) BUT my husband works Sunday night so we'll only have a few hours to have a weekend together, but it is so worth it to get back on track financially.

Eggs, etc. for breakfast - we can still buy 1 dozen eggs for 99 cents around here so I feel it is an amazing bargain. Gas is now going down from 4.26 last week to 4.19 today (it's all relative right?) . Anyway, not sure if i posted this (and i don't want to jinx anything) but a how-to guide publisher that I worked with 8 years ago has asked me to write for them again (it's still tentative but they seemed hopeful that I would and of course I'm all for it!) That would give me regular writing income for the rest of the year. I tend to be very shy about approaching others but am pushing myself, and just sent off an email to them with some ideas. They said no to my ideas, but they wanted me to write about other things, so it turned out very good - so far. Cool

    keep it positive, ya'll. peace.

House a/c is set on 80* but it's so hot outside that it's running almost constantly.  DH is installing our can crusher that we finally found.  We just got back from running errands on the bike and our Saturday lunch date.

We're fixing to head out of town to have our itsy bitsy stimulus fun--a whole 25 miles!  Stopping on the way to take back a few things and get some Dr Peppers that are on sale.

    afternoon all my frugal friends!

we spent some $ today, we went out for breakfast, but when you have a 15 yr old ds that eat like a grown lumberjack, and a dh that eat that way too, it is a great deal to get a full buffet breakfast with all you can drink milk and oj for $5.50 a person, lol. you name it it is on this buffet even chipped beef gravy"s.o.s.", eggs, omlets, sausage,  ham, porkchops, redhots, homemade waffles, choc. chip pancakes(ds favorite!), everything, and ds drank 3 glasses of choc. milk, lol

then we went to the nc state fair flea market, walked around, bargine shoped for action figures for ds, and some things for dh. but i did get me something,lol,....

a lahola cruzier bike!!!, my dr. said that if i rode a bike, my blood sugar  will drop even more, so dr. orders!, ds and i took a 1 1/2 mile bike ride this afternoon, and it felt great riding a bike again, plus i call this bike a "little old lady bike" no hand breaks or gears to change and a big old seat for a big old fanny!lol

plus with gas prices not going down, i can bike to the store for milk ect..., got to get a basket for it though. but i felt like i was 20 yr old again riding it!

sorry about the long post, but i love that bike!

now just hanging around, it is going to storm this pm, so just doing a few things in the laundry to hang  on the drying rack

dinner tonight will be salad, soup, and sandwiches tonight, i am still full from breakfast!

     have a great day all

i am old enough to know better but... still too young to care!

Yesterday didn't go nearly as planned mom was late getting here to babysit so late that the pizza place we'd planned to go to had stopped serving lunch. We ended up driving over to a Chinese place that's 5 miles away and was more than the pizza place so my plan for saving on gas and food didn't go to well we did have a bogof coupon for the Chinese place and there was some savings.

We just finished running our usual weekend errands and bought groceries for the week the rest of the plan is to stay home and rest. DH was called into work late lastnight for an emergancy and has yet to get any sleep. Tomorrow will be a no drive day because we are skipping church to clean under the bed and take out the carpet. Supper one night will be clams that we got on sale today the other night will be hamburgers.

Frugal as possible with everything.  I hung my clothes to dry for the first time. I am looking forward to saving money there.  Have been eating the food in the house instead of grocery shopping for the past two weeks.  Minor exceptions:  lunch food for dh and snack crackers for the kids.

I went to a garage sale yesterday.  I was able to get 3 pair of nice khaki pants, khaki shorts, a dress, a really nice purse, and three small stuffed animals for $8.75 yesterday.  Considering the pants would have cost me at least $30 in the store.

Unfortunately, I will have to be largely non-frugal this weekend because I have to do the week's grocery shopping, but I plan on doing some price comparisons and buying some items at the Dollar General. I guess I'll also be thrifty by not giving into the temptation to order pizza, but that's not unusual, as I rarely have the money to do it anyway.

I have to run to Wal-Mart for DH's prescription, but I don't have to pay for it -- just $ out on the gas.  Actually waiting until tonight when it's cooler before going.  Eating at home, meatless meal.  And I may need to use the bananas to make some muffins.  If that can wait until tomorrow I can use the oven when it's already on and just throw them in next to the meatloaf.  This time I'm making chocolate chip banana muffings... mmmmmmmmm.

I rolled coins yesterday.  I get perverse pleasure out of doing it myself instead of running them through the machine.  I'll put 1/2 in DDs account and 1/2 into mine.

I'm also thinking of listing my wedding dress for sale.  I never intended to keep it -- only the veil which I will pass to DD.  The dress I got from a consignment shop; it was a sample but never worn by anyone before.  It fit so well it didn't even need to be altered to fit me.  I would be happy if I got 1/2 to 2/3 of what I paid for it.  Any tips on how I should do this?  Craigslist has some sketchy stuff on it so I've never used it to see if it would be worth it.  Would an ad in the paper be okay or would that be unnecessary expense?  Tips & advice accepted!!!  (P.S.  The dress is well within the 3 year timeframe so it's very in style still.)

Putting the ODD in goddess every day!

    Re: Weekend $ Stretching 6.28 & 6.29

    Good Evening everybody.

Dixie I would love to get to the Raleigh fairgrounds flea market.  Think I'll talk to DH and see which Saturday we can plan to do that.  I love going there.

Today was a MUCH better day than yesterday.  I changed the bed linens this morning, washed all of them and hung them on the line.  Also had a load of jeans that I hung out.  DH & DS'S did a lot of yard work, mowed, weed eating, dug up some dead bushes, pruning on a few more bushes and DS#2 cleaned out an overgrown side bed that I had been trying to get help with for a long time.  It's been really nice here today, hot, but not as humid.  Might get some storms later tonight.  DH has also spent part of the day working on some more drawers for the tv cabinet he built for our living room.  Did all the weekly cleaning this morning too, vacuumed all the floors, dusted, cleaned bathroom and moped.

All meals were from home.  Breakfast was scrambled eggs, gravy, link sausage and biscuits.  Lunch was sandwiches.  Supper was hamburger steaks on the grill, fried squash, fresh cucumbers that DH's co-worker gave him yesterday, and carrots.  We have orange sherbert for dessert. No money out today as we didn't leave the house.  So after yesterday it really has felt good to have a stretchy day.
