    Lion Brand's Homespun

Has anyone ever knitted or crocheted with it? I love the feel and look of it and would like to make a throw for my granddaughter, but I don't know how well it would hold up over time.

Thanks, Gigi. I've used Lion Brand Wool-Ease and liked it, so I might go with that instead. I just really like the feel of Homespun. I have used it for some small projects and I know it tends to fray easily on the ends. It fluffs more than anything. Since it's a loosely spun yarn, it's hard to handle at times. I don't know if a throw would look nice over time or if it would begin to look worn and ragged after a wash or two. I guess I could knit a swatch and wash it a couple of times to see how it acted.

Depending on the batch you get, it can be really easy to work with or a real pain.  I've had some projects go smoothly (frogging was not a problem), and in others, I'd totally destroy the individual plys trying to rip out a mistake.  So I've started to avoid using it.

I've used it for crocheting blankets and never had any problems with it; I prefer acrylic yarns for baby blankets because they are so easy to wash and dry.  But then, I've also never used any yarn you can't buy at Hobby Lobby, so I don't know what better yarns feel like when you use them, either.

It didn't lose it's softness or come unraveled when it was washed? That's my biggest concern. I'm not a yarn snob, by any means. Smile

    Thanks for your input.

The ones  I've made for myself certainly haven't.  There's been a very minor amount of fuzz, but that's mostly from where the cross stitch frame has caught in the afghan on the back of the couch.

Thanks! I think I'll go ahead and use it and if it turns out to be a pain in the neck working a large project with it, I'll know better next time. Smile

I like it but I crochet.  I made the Martha Stewart poncho. It uses the homespun I think.
