    For the toilet bowl, I read this in a men's magazine (of all places):  pour boiling water into the bowl.  I tried it, and it did seem to work.  My mom said it might crack the toilet bowl, so I didn't continue to do this regularly.

     I think I'd be cautious about that, too, but you can warm up the bowl by putting in warm water to begin, then hot, then boiling.

    I read that using Tide (original powder) along with boiling would often clean out a slow toilet bowl.
