I am the wife of a retired Navy Officer.  I do my major shopping at the commissary (military grocer store).  I bought boneless chicken breast for $1.70 a pound, split chicken breast for $1.28 a pound, turkey thighs for $1.99 a pound, chicken wings for $.98 a pound, 97% ground beef for $2.43 a pound, and cube steak at $3.60 a pound today.
