I used to try to get them at $1.79 a pound, but this year they only have gone down as far as $1.85 a pound.

Since I am new at this... my new rule for buying chicken and hamburger has been it has to be 1.99 a lb and I haven't seen it cheaper, but when I saw 1.69 I thought it must be a good deal, because it is the cheapest.  But I haven't been paying attention very long so I wasn't sure.

So it seems the prices here in So. Cal are pretty steady.  Will buy 5 lbs and put them in the freezer separeatly on friday.  Does anyone know how many breasts that equates to??

    ;-)

Wow, I just noticed today that I could get frozen boneless breasts for about 1.49 for a 4 lb sack.

So I guess 1.69 is a Super Duper Deal for fresh and I am going to buy some on friday to tide me over!!

Then I will start checking out the frozen in the future.

That is a very good price.  I live south of Memphis, TN.

I got two racks of frozen pork ribs at kroger yesterday for $1.19 a pound.  Need to go back and get more.

Frozen is fine with me, I was just going to come home and freeze them myself.

Woo Brandy! Party!!!  We had $1.99 chicken breasts two weeks ago and I bought several pounds. Not enough, imho, but trying to stick with that darn budget hehe

When we moved, I traded cabinet space for freezer space. I don't have anything but the freezer on top of the fridge to work with on cold food storage. This is reducing my ability to save by stocking up so we hope to change that.

Sounds good to me.  I got boneless chicken breast for $1.70 a pound at our local Military Commissary, today.  That is the regular price.  I did not check the family pack, as I had some in the freezer already.  I also got split chicken breast for $1.28 a pound.  I live in North West Mississippi, about 18 miles from Memphis, TN.

I find boneless skinless thigh at half this price but my daughter thought they were disgusting!  I can't win!  ;-)

I agree with your daughter. I find dark meat to be oily with a strong flavor. It works great in stews, soups and other dishes though.
