    Easy Greenhouse

Here is a link to instructions for building a very inexpensive and easy green house. My good friend is in the process of making one. I think I'll take a ride to her house this weekend to see what she has so far.

     Just thought I'd share!

    God bless,

    Julie

Thanks for sharing Julie!  I'm saving the link for that day when I finally get DH to help me build my greenhouse.  Not sure what size we'll do, but it helps to collect ideas and do-it-yourself plans.  One of these days...

    Re: Easy Greenhouse

I drive to my mother's house and she has a neighbor that has built a very simple box  out of 2 X 4's and put plastic around it, there's plastic on the top and sides and he places this over his veggies as an instant greenhouse. His garden is a raised garden which helps with controlling temps. If anyone needs a miniature greenhouse for a few weeks thats a great ideal!!! You can even use it in the winter for cold weather planting.

I like the idea of a smaller mobile greenhouse.  I don't know how big your mother's neighbor's is, but it seems that idea could work for varying sizes.  My husband built me a cold frame years ago, and it was made to go over a part of my raised bed, but it's too heavy for me to move by myself.

I am planning on doing this myself esp. for the my future cabbage and lettuce. I have some lettuce growing now but I am going to plant some for winter too and the cabbage so I'm going to build one to fit my garden. I have a raised garden and I just had to create one in the ground for more veggies I had ordered a month ago that just came. And I have rhubarb growing in the ground and a few veggies and herbs in pots, some outdoors and some in. So, am either going to plant them in the raised garden or in the new garden in the ground and use the frame. IF I get the chance this week, I'll try to snap a picture of it.

I see your from Michigan too. Are you Southeastern Michigan too?

amazing all of us from Michigan on a Dollar Stretcher forum...says alot about our state's economy lol.

Coldframes are what we started with before we got my little green house. We had a couple scavenged windows and set them on top of a 6' X 4' X18"H scrap wood frame. When it got warm out, we just tilted the windows a little to let air in.

Yes it does!!! We're probably worst off than most states...with gas prices, food prices so high and our economy, its a wonder we're even able to make it.
