We've just started stockpiling a few items and I was wondering what others are buying extras of. I currently have : 2 boxes of Borax, 3 large bottles of laundry detergent, 3 boxes (100 bags) of trash bags, 1 bottle of bleach, 1 case of tomato sauce, plus various other canned vegetables. We buy at a bulk food store and have extra bags of sea salt, bread crumbs, powdered cheese sauce, organic sugar, Northern beans, dried onion flakes and green & red bell peppers. I'm still experimenting with my dehydrator and I don't think I can do as good a job on the bell peppers. Please let me know what other items you keep on hand and how you keep track of it all.

Re: What's in Your Stash?
Dear Toni, For my inflation stash:
Sugar,
flours (whole wheat, bread, unbleached, & rye), yeast,
canned corn -- haven't yet bought more than teh few cans I already have, I have plenty of cornmeal in teh house, don't need cornstarch as I have lots of potato starch left over from Passover,
I'd stock up on meat & poultry if I had a mixed kitchen (I have a Kosher dairy kitchen only.).
I also have lots of canned fish, canned fruits in teh houe, plus misc fruits & veggies in the chest freezer. These are my earthquake/disaster stash.

Re: What's in Your Stash?
due to some great sales...3-4 jugs of laundry soap, 5 bottles of fabric softener, plus half a big bucket of powdered soap. 3 boxes of javex bleach for the unbleachables.
extra cans of coffee, tea, soup, baked beans, corn, mushrooms, spaghetti sauce, cake mixes, brownie mixes, boxes of cereal, cookies. boxes of juice. extra bottles of condiments like bbq sauce, extra jar of pickles etc. extra packs of tp, misc stuff like canned fruit, cans of icing, tuna, hamburger helper. snacks etc
I don't stock up alot unless there is an awesome deal on something. I may have a extra bottle of mustard or pickles etc that I keep downstairs in my extra food shelves but a case of soup etc lasts a long time here.
I have a upright freezer stocked up with meat, veggies, frozen juice and fries, frozen pizza etc.

Re: What's in Your Stash?
I have large amounts of: dried pinto beans, cans of shortening, vegetable oil, salt, flours, yeast, tomato sauces, sugars, spices, canned peppers, vinegar, baking soda, dish soap, laundry soap. Lesser amounts of: mayonnaise, ketchup, corn meal, rice, other dried beans, tuna, corn, Ranch dressing, honey, soups, and chili. I want to add to our supplies: dried onions, dried celery, dried fruit, instant potatoes, dried carrots, powdered milk, and maybe try powdered cheese. We have enough of these supplies to last for about 1 year, and I am adding more each month. I don't have any supplies of some form of meat; this is something I need to work on. Edey

Re: What's in Your Stash?
This has been very helpful. My husband is a hunter so our meat situation is in good shape. I do have extra coffee, cooking oil, condiments that I've bought from BJ's. Keep posting, you're adding to my gathering list.

Toni
I have 2 spiral notebooks that I use 1 is a spending log that I write what I bought, how much it was and where I got it the other is my pantry list I'll go through the panrty every few months and keep track of what I have on hand vs what I need. I mentioned in another post that a few years ago I started writing down everything I bought for a year and from that figured out how much of what I needed to buy. It might be easier to list what I don't have
So far in my pantry I have:
A side of beef (368 lbs)
1/2 a pig (110 lbs)
4 cases assorted soups
4 cases assorted pastas
1 case cream of corn
1 case rice a roni
60 boxes mac& cheese
60 jars pb
28 bottles of shampoo
6 tubes of tooth paste
61 jars jam (homemade)
8 boxes cake mix
8 containers frosting
3 20 lbs bags of cat food
12 boxes hamburger helper
1 case assorted broth
18 lbs white rice
1/2 a case bottles of water (I pass these out to mail &trash men on 90 degree days)
6 cans water chest nuts
6 cans bamboo shoots
3 lbs sliced american cheese
4 grocery bags of halloween candy
4 grocery bags of christmas candy
13 boxes of candy canes
7 bags of easter candy
12 jars spaghetti sauce
thrift is a sign of intelligence, any fool can spend money

Re: What's in Your Stash?
Nanagain - I love the quote at the bottom of your posts. I think I'll design a cross stitch sampler with that on it! My goodness you are very prepared.
I've started placing purchase dates on items and keeping a list on my computer. Don't worry I print it in case my computer crashes. Do you replenish what you use as you go? Do you ever let your stash get low? Where do you store all this. Sorry if I'm being nosey, but I'm looking for ideas to get it right the first time.

Re: What's in Your Stash?
Dear Toni, Nanagain has reminded me that I also stock up on pasta -- whole wheat & regular semolina, all shapes. I also stock up on tomato products of all kinds.
I live in a studio apt. I store most of my food in teh kitchen cabinets -- praised be the L-rd, I have lots of them -- the kitchen is as big as the great room here. But I also have food under the bed, & I've recently co-opted a shelf on the bookcases.
Hope this helps. Yours in Him, Deb
