I have been visiting with Mom and taking advantage of some shopping opportunities. In a small consignment shop, I found a set of Magic Schoolbus books for $6. I have been considering using these for a primary science program so I bought them at less than I was pricing them at.
Have you found any good educational deals or freebies?

In the past I've found good deals at Half Price Books. Obviously the selection varies a lot since it depends on what other people bring in.

I've also occasionally found nice educational computer programs at Big Lots.

Thank you Brandy!
I don't feel very wise, but if I think of anything that might be useful, I'll be sure to pass it on!
I admire all of you who are dedicated to teaching your kids. I have dear friends and family members who do it, and I know how much work that is! I've also always been very impressed with the homeschool kids that I've known!

Brandy, My child is a major Magic Schoolbus fan and my DH and I have learned tons from her! The Scholastic website has a Magic Schoolbus link with free lesson plans corresponding to some of the books. She also asked for a Magic Schoolbus science kit for Christmas-on the website and at a individually-owned Children's toy store locally (not free, but fun). You got a steal, getting these for $6! The cheapest we could find was $5.95 each, paperback, and most had to be ordered. We check out the books and videos and if one is a frequent favorite, add it to Birthday/Christmas list. Hope this helps. Sincerely, K

K,
The books were a very good deal. Now I just have to put together some easy activities.

Since the school year is ending, it might be a good idea to call local schools and see if they are giving away/selling textbooks they're no longer using. They don't do it every year, but when they do, you can get really good resources for very little. My high school did that, and I got my biology book and a nice grammer book for $1 each.
