    Weekend $$ Stretcher 5/10-5/11

How are you stretching your $$ this weekend? Geeked

(it's after midnight for me so it's the weekend!)

Made me $25 for watching the dog for 2 days. Baked cookies tonight since I got woken up out of a nice drugged sleep (not ready to sleep again yet). Only bad thing was that I threw a can of asparagus away... will never buy canned again. Ick! I'll buy fresh and learn how to cook with that.

    • Saturday: Going up to sis's for her garage sale and spend time with the family. Her town is having a city-wide sale but am NOT going to go out and look. Will be celebrating Mom's day with a grill out after the sale. Cost total for me is gas driving up there (1/2 hr one way). All food will be at sis's so no expense there.
    • Sunday: Drive to church and come home. Will cook food in house. (Probably pizza).

    Re: Weekend $$ Stretcher 5/10-5/11

This weekend I am taking it easy. I finished up with my classes, finals was this past week. I should have all A's, just waiting for the grades to post. I am taking only one class this summer. This coming week I am doing late spring cleaning, and working on DD's lesson plans, but this weekend I have nothing planned except the normal routine stuff.

I will wash a load of laundry and get that hung up to dry. I also will fold and put away the clothes that are on the drying racks. I have a pork roast that I need to put into the crockpot, so dinner will be pork roast, corn-on-the-cob, salad, and rolls. For breakfast I am making whole wheat pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream(strawberries and whipped cream need using), and lunch will be baked potatoes (potatoes need to be used before they begin to sprout) with chili.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and a happy Mother's Day.

It's a cool morning here in the midwest.  It's prom weekend ...we've saved where we could...no limo, meal at an inexpensive restaurant, simple flowers, no photographer-It's amazing how carried away people can get with these things.  It's the parents often pushing more than the teens.

Will do some gardening and plant flowers.  We've got our vegetable seeds in now will plant tomatoes and peppers.  Hoping to off set our grocery bill with our produce.

I'm going to make a blueberry pie from frozen berries I've been saving for mother's day and bring out the good dishes-etc.  No fancy brunches and money spent here.

Have a great weekend....off to the garden....

Today my cousin's dd is taking dd#2 for the afternoon/evening she plans to take her to the zoo, mc d's playplace, a freind of hers that does daycare then back home. Dh &I are running the usual errands before he's taking me out to dinner for my birthday and for mothers day paying for 1/2 of it with a gift card that he got for Christmas and the other 1/2 with some of his stimulus money.

Tomorrow we're going to church ds#2&3 are aculiting and it's promotion sunday then coming back home to enjoy mother's day.

Going to a friend's for lunch and a mini school board mtg today, bringing my daughter to play with hers.  Might go to a free community event, kite day, but might just relax at home.  Baking fancy for church, for mother's day treats- frosted tea cakes and might make some tassies or mints, my goal is 100 treats.  Usually make 60, think there might be guests.  Another lady makes the other half, she was down at Mayo this week for a med consult, I asked her if she would make just lemon bars.  She'll probably bake her usual half.

Sunday might go to my mom's for mother's day for desserts. Would bake again. Have a box of good chocolate's I bought, usual price $8, was on sale this week for $3.99 at Walgreen's, had a $2 coupon.  Russell Stover for $1.99!  That sale is still on today, if anyone still needs a present.  Would love if my parents are free to sit tonight, they said they would and gave us a gift card to go out to a grown-up movie, for my April birthday.

Hope to start cleaning my oldest dd's room a little this weekend, she comes home in a little over a month.  I've been storing some stuff in there.  Keep her safety in your prayers, two out of the last three nights someone broke into the dorm with a knife, and attempted to put a pillow over a girl's face, sounds like attempted rape.  Security is tighter, but she is on the ground floor.  Makes me anxious to have her home.

Also need to get a new baby gate solution, my 16 month old has cracked the code for this one.  Might need another gate, she is physically too small for the stairs, although developmentally almost there.

    Have a good weekend!

So far it's been challenging - my daughter is going to her dad's brother's wedding in a week and needed a dress to wear but forgot to bring her wallet with her from college this weekend (right!, lol) so I picked up the tab but she promises to pay me back. I don't care, really. She was quite frugal, bringing a coupon she had saved to get 20 percent off and found a dress at a price conscious store. Decided to borrow shoes from her sister, and instead of eating out somewhere when we got hungry we did do a drivethrough and bought off the cheap menu. Gas is $3.89 here today, up ten cents from yesterday. Also I used a gift cert. to get a hair cut and paid for a hair cut for my daughter - came to $37 with the tips. I also bought a birthday card for my son (16 tomorrow) with a sound chip in it. (he is also getting a synthesizer for his bass but I won't be able to swing that for a week or two - why can't he have an inexpensive hobby/career???)

peace on this beautiful weekend. Tomorrow we will go out to breakfast and I will have the rest of the day off to kick back. - pam

Did the grocery shopping today. Came home, ran a load of dishes, made some potato salad to use up some sprouting potatoes. Made a pitcher of iced tea. We had kielbasa on the grill with potato salad for dinner.  I picked up some store-brand coffee w/fudge ripple ice cream ($1.99 and as good as the expensive stuff, much creamier) that we'll have a little later on while we watch the Celtics game.

Our mom's are 9 & 18 hours away, so nothing but a call tomorrow. I had mailed their cards out earlier this week.  Took some chicken breasts out to thaw. Will have bbq chicken breasts on the grill (and I'll grill two plain to use in chicken alfredo later in the week) with corn on the cob and the rest of the potato salad.  Should be a quiet weekend at home. No money spent but the $47.93 at the grocery store today.

mid afternoon here. chilly today.  Dh had to work this morning. Kids and I went to my parent group meeting but the centre changed the locks and didn't give keys to the group leader so we had to go around to local restaurant to meet.  The childcare workers took the kids to the park. spent $10 at the restaurant.  discussing the kids swap meet.  wasn't planning spending money on that.  Stopped at the baptist church garage sale where my moms group is and met friends so the kids played together and I bought hotdogs and cookies. found a old fisher price toy for .50.

then went to london drugs to get the phone my mom wants for mothers day. plus replacement shampoo for all the ones the kids put down the drain this week.

kids are off with dh because my dd (5) is planning mother's day party :)   so off shopping.

planning on angelhair pasta with shrimp and 4 cheese alfredo classico sauce for dinner.

Was a beautiful day here in central NC.  Sunny, a light breeze and warm.  Washed 4 loads of laundry and hung them all on the line.  Still trying to get caught up since DS#1 came home from college for the summer on Thursday.  All meals but my lunch were from home today.  I had lunch out with the ladies group from our church for Mother's day, only cost me the gas to drive there, the church paid for the lunch.  Supper was bbq chicken on the grill, baked potatoes and green beans.

Still need to pay a few bills online, yesterday was payday, but that will be all for money spent.

Will use gas to drive to church in the morning but that should be all the money we spend tomorrow.  Mom is 8 hours away so will call her tomorrow.  DH's mother is deceased so we will stop by the cemetary on the way home from church.  All meals will be from home tomorrow.  We've went out for lunch on Mother's Day before and it's NOT really that enjoyable since most resturants are too crowded.  So I will put a roast in the crock pot before we leave for church in the morning and then make mashed potaoes with gravy and carrots to go with it.

So a really stretchy weekend here in centeral NC.
