A question for everyone...

It seems like there were a bunch of deals recently for free cat treats.  I was thinking about mixing the cat treats in with regular food to stretch it.  It seems like the ingrediants are simliar. I was thinking about a low ratio such as 4 parts food to 1 part treats.  Has anyone tried this?  I don't want to make my cat sick just to save some money.

i have fairly picky cats, they only like a few kinds of treats(they like the soft ones i think whiskas in thepurple bag the best) but they also only like a few kinds of food.

If i have treats they like, each cat (3) gets 4-5 a day, if i have treats that they dont seem to like, if i mix the non-liked ones into their food they eat them that way.

Their food is also stored into an empty washed tidy cats bucket because it works for me, but when they have treats mixed with food, its normally 9 parts food to 1 part treats ( or 4   3 pound bags of food and 2 packs of cat treats)

Alison, if you find you just can't use them, an animal rescue place would take them off your hands as would a friend with pet hamsters, gerbils, ratties, mice or even someone who feeds squirrels.  Many tiny pets can eat small-sized dog or cat food, either mixed with their regular food or as a treat...Liz, the pet rat lady

I buy tartar control treats for the cats for xmas etc.  I give a few at night as a reward for listening. My remaining cat is sweet but dim.  so he knows that he gets treats for coming when called at night. Our cats are not allowed out at night.  also if they are just looking for a little something.  I give them some.

 Our cat batted his free treats off the piano and ate them!  So that's that.  

That's okay, a few nights ago he earned his living by leaving four mouse carcasses after a night of hunting in the living room and bathroom.  Luckily dh got up first, found the three.  The other was reported to me by my 9 yo, Violet.   For some reason she didn't want to dispose of it for me.
