Dear All, Another great Reader's Digest book that I have is the 2nd edition (1981) of:

BACK TO BASICS:  HOW TO LEARN & ENJOY TRADITIOANL AMERICAN SKILLS.

Part One is on "Land:  Buying It ...  Building on It."

Part Two is on "Energy from Wood, Water, Wind, & SUn"

Part Three is on "Raising Your Own Vegetables, Fruit, & Livestock."

Part Four is on "Enjoying Your Harvest Year-Round," canning etc.

Part Five si on "Skills & Crafts for House & Household," everything from Broommaking to Gourd Craft.

& Part Six is on "Recreation at Home & in teh Wild."

Of course, this book is out-of-print, but you may be able to get a copy online.
