Hey Heather, I'm a native Californian transplanted to TN. Gas is the worst in Ca. because of all the gas taxes. Too bad Arnold won't suspend the gas taxes to give the people of California a break. Between that and the water rationing they are predicting there it is not going to be a pretty summer. My heart goes out to you guys. I love California, it's my home.

I know Sherri, I'm bracing myself because it's going to get worse before getting better (if it does get better).  It's amazing all the taxes they have on our gas over here, yet the state budget still is in the hole every year AND never passes on time, go figure!

Whereabouts in TN are you?  I would LOVE to move there, I'm working on my hubby but for him it's a hard sell.  We were looking in the Nashville area, but it seems that housing prices are going up steadily, so now were looking more in the Memphis area.  I've been to Nashville a few times and LOVED it.  Beautiful scenery, nice people and MUCH cheaper!  How do you like it?

We are in Brentwood, Tennessee it's a suburb of Nashville about 15 miles away. You can google it and Franklin, Spring Hill which is a little farther, and find there are some really nice towns outside of the city. Most people live in the suburbs and not in the actual city of Nashville. We absolutely love it here. The weather is wonderful. The summers are great with only a couple of months being really hot. The landscape is beautiful and the skies are BLUE. I still can't believe the blue skies after 3 years. We lived in the S.J. valley and we only saw truly blue skies a couple times a yr. The housing market here is pretty steady. There aren't the drop offs that have occurred back home. There are a lot of job opportunities here. Depending on where you live now it would either break even for you if you bought a bigger house -vas far as cost comparison to California-or if you live in a big city and do a lot of commuting you could save a lot by moving here. It just kind of depends on your situation. It is a great place to live though-so much history so much to do and a lot of great people.

Possibly, more likely because oil is trading higher than it was last week.

Gas here in our area of NH is down to $3.91/gallon this morning.

We were driving up through Maine yesterday towards the beaches (long story short the lakes were closed for e coli and the ocean beaches were crowded so ended up at the local pool), but in coastal Maine around Kennebunkport/Wells it was over $4.12/gallon. Phew...glad we don't live there.

Re: Gas jumped up this afternoon! What gives?

Most places it's about $4.08/gallon or so. Found some in MD today for $3.99, but still - $85 for a fill-up on the pickup truck. Ouch. Unfortunately we're doing some renovation work on my FIL's house and are using the truck a lot lately.

On the plus side, I start work at a new job Monday that is ten minutes away and will almost double our income.

Filled up today for $4.52-a drop from the $4.68 I've been seeing!  Yay!  Hope it continues!
