Ok, you guys have me intrigued.  I have not previously done the walgreen's thing but there is one not too far from my house.  I am going to grab their sales flyer to see what's what.  The system sounds a bit confusing, and I don't do Sunday coupons but do hold onto others that I get here and there if they are for products that I use.  So I am going to see if I can get some of these deals and rebates/rewards too!  Can't beat free!

Use this coupon tomorrow, buy your rebate items, get them for free plus $5!  Nothing like getting paid to shop-

I've already got my rebate items, might try to get diapers with coupons tomorrow, have a $5 rebate by mail when you buy 3 Huggies, would be half price after store coupon, brand coupons, and mail-in rebate. Or might just get milk, eggs, Kleenex at 25% off.

    Re: Walgreens.....

Tracy, Im with you. I am sorting through coupons to see what will be the best buy, I have a $3 RR to use too . so $20 -$5 coupon --the $3 RR that brings it down to $12 spent less whatever coupons that I can find.....sounds good to me. I definately will need milk. I wanted the splenda but my Walgreens was sold out, hope they have more in.  Babs

    Jennylyn,

Most of us get coupons from Sunday's paper or they come if people are signed up to be part of a coupon train, or people just give them to us.  I buy four or five Sunday papers, then put all like pages together from the coupon section.  That way, if I want to clip, I can clip several at a time.  I looked at the Taylortown Preview site today because they have a 2008 coupon schedule which tells which coupon inserts (Smartsource or Valassis) will be in the Sunday paper.  Sadly, no coupon inserts are scheduled to be in this Sunday's paper.  :-**(  However, the first weekend of the month the Procter & Gamble products flier will be in papers, along with any of the others listed.

I only really really realized how this worked within the last few weeks.  Someone posted a link to this website http://jane4girls800dollarannualbudget.blogspot.com/ and it happened to also be the week that Walgreens had three pages of items for sale that generated register rewards.  I think it was if you bought three of those items, you would get $3.00 in register rewards; buy 4-6 of those items, you would get $5.00 in RR, if you bought 8 of those items you would get $10 RR, and if you bought 9 or more of those items, you would get two $10 RR ($20).  Since the items were basic supplies and would eventually be used, no harm in stocking up against future inflationary prices.  You take the monthly EasySaver and look for coupons there for items on sale.  These are Walgreens in store coupons.  Add to them any manufacturer coupons you might have for the product to save bigger.  This is called stacking, and it is permitted.  The only thing you cannot do is buy items with RR expecting to get more RR -- that gap has been closed, I'm told.  I did wind up making several trips to different stores, always along my route to somewhere, I wound up with at least $160 in RR my first week, as it was a P&G week.  I have a couple more days to spend the rest, but have basically been buying things like canned goods, cereal, milk, vitamins, etc. that I needed, spending RR in trips where I was not planning to generate RR.  So I have lots of inventory on some items, gave some to an out-of-work friend, and have bought needed items.  Now, you also look at the EasySaver to see what rebates there are, which helps your buying plan, keep your receipts, and send in the rebate according to instructions.  If you take it as a gift card, they give an extra percentage.  The EasySaver always has several items that are Free After Rebate.  Those are good to get.  If you don't use them, you can give them to a shelter or just someone you know who is having a tough time.

I think I noticed that you are in California and there is a thread about some people wanting to start a Western Coupon Train.

Most people, I think, probably start small.  I jumped in with both my big feet.

    Hope this helps!

    Tracy,

Thanks for this link!  I would have missed it.  Maybe I will use it to buy CFLs.

BTW, where did you find the Huggies rebate?  My niece by marriage is in her first trimester and I thought I would buy a few packages of diapers and other things for the eventual shower.  I've already sent for some baby product samples and received them, also to pop into a basket.  I did this with my niece and so did some other people.  She didn't have to buy diapers for a couple of years.  Even if she uses cloth, most people want some disposables for travelling.

    Thanks again!

Hope you can use it.  There are some current coupons out there, also.

The basket sounds like a good gift.

    Re: Walgreens.....

Thanks Lynnea for the great explanation.  I am going to start small as you mention and see if I can work this system!  I don't get the Sunday paper; I have purchased it a few times for the coupons but as someone else mentioned, for me, the coupons weren't enough savings for the price of the paper so I stopped doing that.  However, my parents get the paper and don't save the coupons so I think I will start asking them to save them for me.  I do get other coupons though-those that come in the mail or from companies that I have signed up with for online offers.  So I will definitely try to use those more effectively.  After reading all this stuff I realize I am a novice with my coupons!  The most I do is use a coupon for something if an item is already on sale; seems I could definitely maximize this savings!  Have known this for awhile but didn't know quite how to get started.  Need to get my feet wet . . .

    Re: Walgreens.....

Coupons.com has two coupons that match Walgreen sales for this week. One is a dollar off Chex Snack Mix. It is 99 cents this week. The second is BOGO for Sierra Mist 2 liter. It is 99 Cents so would be two for 99Cents. The Chex Snack Mix would be free. You can print two of each coupon. Also if you have the $2 off Kashi cereal it is 2 for $2.50 so would be 50 cents a box. That coupon is on Kashi website if you missed it in last weeks post. Babs
