I apologize.....according to TurboTax about the whole paying fees thing.  Yes it IS true!  Dang, you won't get direct deposit, you'll have to wait for a paper check which WON'T be mailed out until May 9th for the first batch.

This is an interesting article on Turbo Tax and the rebate:

We are well within the digits of the first payments out the gate, yet ours didn't come.  We used TurboTax, tho, and it's not directly deposited by IRS, but thru a bank, so I guess that's why we're still waiting...

I've also heard lots of weird amounts, like latenightleader's.  Don't know what's up with that...Liz

The comments on that article really cracked me up. "Turbo Tax duped us!! Screwed by TurboTax again!! They used their own bank, that has to be illegal!"  How do they think TurboTax takes the fees out of your refund if you choose to do it that way?  Magic fairies come into your checking account when the IRS deposits your tax refund and takes their money for them? Stick out tongue  I mean, it stinks that they're probably going to get paper checks instead of DD now, but TurboTax didn't do anything "illegal."  Its all right there when you choose to pay that way (its the same with H&R Block); normally it wouldn't matter except we get these stimulus rebates.

Edit:  Just to be clear I'm not saying that about anyone here!! If you read the comments in the article Brandy linked you'll know what I mean.  Wink

We used the H&R Block Emerald card for our tax refund and we got the disapointing news that we would not be getting our refund by DD but instead we will be waiting until mid-late JUNE for a paper check [:'(] We really could use this money too!

    Ariana,

The comments were quite amusing. I have a feeling some of those folks never read Dave Ramsey, LOL!

Solved the mystery- the feds  took my profit from my farmer's market booth as I had neglected to file my sales use tax, which was 0.  My tax guy thought that my Scedule D with the bakery in type of business and $61 profit was sufficient.  here is no food tax in MN.

Phone filed my sales use tax today $0, hoping to recover my profit for a summer's work- $61, at some point!

    Re: stimulus check

We haven't received ours yet as of 2 P.M. Friday. Our number is 75, which is the highest number I think. We did our taxes traditional on our own and mailing the forms in. I read somewhere that it is set to deposit Friday at midnight. That has always confused me. Is that Thursday to Friday midnight or Friday to Saturday midnight? If it's Fri. to Sat. than it will deposit tonight, and with the way our credit union does things it won't appear until 10 a.m. Monday when they open for business. They do direct deposits like that some times and sometimes you'll see it early in the morning before they open. Edey

Thanks for clearing that up, latenight.  I'm wondering if some friends that got an odd amount had any mis-filings, omissions, delinquencies, whatever - the IRS does catch up with those things, though it may take awhile.  Liz

     Elovestea,

If your last digits are 75, it looks like you should be expecting your rebate next week.

    DIRECT DEPOSIT

Last two SSN digits:  Payments will be transmitted no later than:
     00 through 20  May 2
     21 through 75  May 9
     76 through 99  May 16
