I actually just got the chance yesterday to rotertill my garden. I still have to go over it a couple of times to loosen the soil up. Its still pretty packed. Last yr was the first time it was ever used for something like that. I am starting my seedlings this week sometime. I live in NY so we will still have quite a bit of frost comming. BUT I am going to try and plant cold weather crops a little early this yr. Can anyone help me out by giving me a list of cold weather crops? im not really sure...I think spinach is one right?
For my seedlings I am going to start brocccoli, brussel spouts, bell peppers, Jalepenos, zucchini, and squash. Maby some peas and beans as well. Im not too sure. As for other veggies I want to grow later in the yr...tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, spinach, onions, carrots and of course lettuce. I really want to preserve as much as I can this yr. My father is trying to get me to grow some potatoes as well....becasue he fears with all the food prices going sky high....trying to feed my kids will be hard.
Fruit? Does anyone live in NY? Im kinda curious about what kind of fruit I can grow and how long it will take to actually harvest? Anyone? I wonder if buying food at the farmers market will beat prices in the store? Im not sure how that will work out this year.....Thanks
