I have read that the IRS would be sending out letters confirming the amount of the rebate and the date it would be sent. Has anyone recieved one yet?

We got our letters a few weeks ago.  It doesn't actually tell you how much your specific rebate will be, or when it will come.  It just gives you the same information that's on the website (the tiers for the rebates, and the dates they'll be mailed by according to SSN).  Silly, when you consider the gov't spent 45 million dollars just to send these letters. Ummm....couldn't I have just gotten that extra back? I already knew all that from watching the news!

Like Ariana, I received a letter a few weeks back.  It said that (for folks on Scoial Security), we should write "Stimulus Check" or some such on the top of our 1040's.  This terrified me, as I had sent in a 1040 (without that designation) some weeks before THAT.  I had to telephone the IRS, & they said that there would be no problem -- but you know how the IRS often has one hand saying one thing, & another hand the other ...!  Yours in Him, Deb

I can't find where I read it but I have read that two letters were going out. The first to give notice and explanation about the stimilus rebate and the second with more specific information.

I too wonder why this is needed.

Ahhh, I apologize Brandy, I misunderstood. The second letter sounds like it would at least be worth the paper its printed on...but wouldn't it be nicer if they spent more time (and $$) processing our rebates than sending these letters?  The letters wouldn't be necessary if they would process rebates for the people who've filed already. Oh bureaucracy!

Has anyone gotten one of these letters about the amount of their specific rebate and when it'll be coming?  I keep reading elsewhere about people getting this letter, but I haven't got it. I just got the initial notice.  I hope that doesn't mean we're not getting one! We meet all the requirements.

I got one on Monday, stating that my refund would be deposited on or after May 2 (which it was), and to contact the IRS if I hadn't received my refund within 6 weeks of the listed date - of course, I got it after I already had received my deposit.

 I recieved my letter and  it explained some, and had a specific phone number to call with questions.  i called to find out that your rebate can't exceed your tax liability, which in our case was $939.  So instead of $3,000, we did recieve $2,739.  It  had nothing to do with my business.

i was grateful to get the letter and the access to the phone number.  Stimulus payment question number- 866 234 2942.

 We received ours this week, about 5 days after the direct deposit.  ANOTHER perfect example of the government wasting our tax dollars.
