    Re: need recipe

This is a different version of the cookbook - since I found it on pg 310 of my Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook (paperback, 1985) - but maybe this is the recipe you're looking for:

    Double Chocolate Drops

    1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

    1/2 teaspoon baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    1/2 cup shortening

2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate

    1 cup packed brown sugar

    1 egg

1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk

    1 teaspoon vanill

1 6-ounce package (1 cup) semisweet chocolate pieces

    1/2 cup chopped walnuts

    Mocha frosting

Grease a cookie sheet.  Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.  Melt shortening and unsweetened chocolate over low heat.  Cool 10 minutes.  Stir in brown sugar, egg, buttermilk or sour milk, and vanilla; mix till smooth.  Stir dry ingredients into saucepan mixture; mix well.  Stir in chocolate pieces and nuts.  Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto a greased cookie sheet.  Bake in a 350 degree oven about 10 minutes.  Cool about 1 minute before removing to a wire rack.  Frost with Mocha Frosting.  Makes about 42

    Mocha Frosting

Beat together 1/4 cup butter or margarine, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, and 2 teaspoons instant coffee crystals.  Stir in 2-1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar, 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla, and enouhg milk to make of a spreading consistency (about 2 to 3 tablespoons).

It seems I remember that recipe being in the original Make-a-Mix book. If someone still has it maybe they could look it up for you. Edey

There are many recipes on the net for banana split cake, let me know if you find any you like.  I do have the Make - A - Mix books and cant find it located in either of them.  : )
