New here - but newsletter for years now!

    I"m Donna.

Why this is the first time I've seen there was a forum, I have no idea!

Homeschooling, semi-homesteading, home-milling (grains) family on 15 acres in NC.

We went from a $750,000 yearly salary, living in a million dollar home in CA to an $8,000.00 annual income struggling to eat in less than 2 years.

God has blessed us with all our needs. Our family has grown closer and stronger through the difficulties.

We eat healthy yet frugally, grow a huge garden and I've learned to make almost everything from scratch.  It's amazing what it saves!

    Best Blessings!

    Donna

A great big warm welcome to you! Your activities sound fascinating and I do want to hear more about them. I also hope your struggles lessen.

Welcome, Donna! That was quite a drop in salary; I'm sure you've learned a lot you can teach us.

Wow, and I was whining about only a 60% drop in income at retirement. What a transition you've been through! Would enjoy hearing more about it.

This is actually in reply to everyone's warm welcome!

I hope each person who welcomed me gets this...Huh?

Well the blessings have been all our kids got Pell Grants out the ears for college.

We've learned to really really live on faith and potatoes (Yes, hubby is writing a book called 'Living on Faith and Potatos"....Big Smile

Mind you in CA we ate out almost every night and it was nothing to drop $150 at a dinner, hubby had a shirt service that pressed his shirts, we had an indoor gardener, an outdoor gardner and a maid, a boat and an RV....now....hehehe .... life is VERY different.

I have to say - after adjusting to the change - this life now seems much richer.

We grow almost all our own produce and I've learned to can, bake from whole grains (cheaper and healthier), we have bees for honey, peach trees, blueberry bushes, grapevines and bamboo (yes you can eat it and we sell it)We do a lot of 'Free_cycling" and I completely have had to learn to cook from scratch.

I work from home (link somewhere in my sig) and we make ends meet - even if  it's barely...I've always been kind of frugal (except in the life in CA - it was like a twilight zone with limos and bling) - but it hasn't been until the last 3 years that I've had that frugal capability put to the REAL TEST....we'll see in a couple more if we're passing the test or not....Paradise

Gonna run - I have pita bread that needs to go in the oven and some shipments for work to go out!

Thanks again for the welcome!  I'll be more active as I learn the forum!

    Best Blessings!

I've lurked there for years now! Even bought one of those solar ovens. They talk about so many things I'd love to do and inspire me to do what I can. Great group, yes.
