    Re: Food Quality

I purchase some food at the Dollar Tree in our area, but we really do not use much packaged food around here, so my experience is limited. We are still working through the jam I put up last summer, which beats anything in the market. Geeked. They do have some trail mix that I love.

I do know, though, that in some cases, the generic stuff is not only equal to, it is identical to the name brand stuff. I have relatives that worked in a cannery.  They did juice for the big names and for the generics. The only difference in process is that they changed the labels in the machine. Seriously, the bottles were the same and everything. That cannery is now closed, but I am sure the same thing is happening now. I look at the shape of the bottle and where it was made. If they are the same, I try the product. I am not usually disappointed.

I agree that it can't hurt to try the generic brand, especially at the dollar store because the price is right. You only know if it's any good by trying it.
