    Re: April Debt Check In

We had no major debt reduction this month, but all the bills got paid (minimums only). We were afraid even that would not happen with me not working, but we made it through without too many sacrifices.  Plus I got a job, DH gets an extra paycheck next month and the sun will come out tommorrow.  We are going to focus on a few things we have been putting off in May instead of debt reduction.  DH's car needs  wheel bearings repacked, a new windshield, oil change and air filter change.  My car needs an emissions test and new registration.  I am going to try to get DH a new pair of everyday shoes, then his current ones will become work shoes  (and they will never be the same!).

Thanks for the encouragement. Looking at the bright side is basically all we can do. At this point there is no point in making ourselves sick with the would ofs, couldas, shouldas.

Good luck with the new job Pamelaw. What is it that you do?(Other than family, cooking cleaning- the norm for us moms lol)

Anne-I am so sorry for your situation.  I am sending you and your family my best wishes.  I am glad that you are staying positive and keeping focused on the bright side of things.

As far as our April debt, we paid $997 this month which is $72 more than I had planned-YAY!  I may be able to come up with an extra $50 at the end of the month to send in as well-I pay online and if I have extra money from extra income or selling something, I send an extra online payment (free) to the company, even if it's just a small payment-they all add up!  If that money sits in my account, it seems to get "lost" somehow.  Anyway, hoping to have an extra $50 to send-that would be $122 extra beyond what was planned in payments for April; that would make me very happy!  We are making slow but steady progress . . .

I provide childcare for three different families who are on different schedules; only one is fulltime. It's really funny because when my daughters were little, I ran a family daycare and once they were in school I swore I would never do that again but have found that caring for children in their own home is so much easier - my house can remain a mess with all the animals since no one is crawling on my floors. the newest job is one that found me and pays the highest as well so I'm overflowing with gratitude, and now that my kids are 16 - 21 years of age, toddlers seem soooo easy! Plus the people I work for are families that I love and love to be around. pam

Paid off only CC with tax return...hopefully never have that again

    8000 van

    137000 house

I am taking classes this summer to move up my payscale.  After I get that bump next school year will look at making extra payments on the van and staying out of CC debt.  Hoping within a year to start making extra paynents on the house.
