Walmart sells 5 flour sack towels for five dollars. I've seen them cropping up at grocery stores as well but if you're up to pay for shipping and don't have a Walmart in your area, they do ship (also you can find ANYTHING on Amazon or Drugstore.com). I wash them with a tiny bit of bleach, soda crystals and a little laundry detergent. They come up white every time and never rip! I won't use anything else so I've got about 20 of the buggers! RE: Do you make wood polish in batches or only enough for the one job? I do the same thing but with car wax from the dollar store. Car wax has silicone in it as does furniture polish. I have an old sock now and then and once I've got the wax on it, I keep it in a jar and reuse it over and over until it goes in the trash. Talk about being raised by a penny pincher!

Please be careful with making your own cleaners never, never mix amonia and bleach together because it can throw off posionous gas and sometimes be fatal so I've heard.
