Dear Babs, Now that you've reminded me that the Devil's other name is Satan, I easily remember that he taunted the L-rd to be sent down to earth to tempt the righteous Job into denying G-d (which of course, Job did not do). SO, we know that the Rabbis who codified Scriptures into the present order (about the same time as the Christian Gospels were redacted) already had the concept. Therefore, it must be somewhere prior to Job in the Scriptures that introduces the idiot. Love in Him, Deb
