     Amy,

Ummm no. I am likely too OCD to deal with that, my husband isn't around enough to be supportive with such a venture and I don't drive which would make it difficult to change our lifestyle to suit adding in additional kids with needs that differ from my own.

    Re: Eating Out

I can definately understand that......I just had to mention it because I spent two years in foster care in my teens and it was the best experiance of life.....I often think that it saved my life.  DH and I have plans to do foster care someday, but we need SIL and her kids to leave first! LOL.  It just seems like its for us because in the two and half years that we have had our house, we have never lived in it alone.  We are always bringing in "strays" if you will, and helping them get back on thier feet.  Some have been family or friends, others just random people that we heard about through others.

     Amy,

We have taken in strays all the years we have been married. The last few have burned me out though and I seriously have little interest in opening my home to others in the future.

I realise when it comes to kids, someone has to be compassionate though. I just don't have it in me and I don't think I could offer anyone what they would need.

    Brandy:
I have a family of five with two teens.

As I am sure you know, teens eat more than a couple of people together, LOL! Mine both eat double meat burgers and large fries if we are doing burgers out. That's expensive! And no, they are not overeating, both are underweight. They burn the food before it touches their lips.

That reminds me of me in high school. I had a very high metabolic rate, and ate so much so often that even some friends accused me of having a tapeworm.

A friend from my mid 20's still remembers when we stopped my McDonalds for lunch and I ordered two Big Macs, two fish sandwiches, a large fries and a milkshake. He started to thank me for buying him lunch and didn't believe it when I told him "This is for me. You have to buy your own lunch!" And yes, I ate all of it. Well, it was 2:00 PM and I hadn't had anything to eat all day!

If I tried to do that now it'd probably kill me.

My husband and I work crazy hours but once we started cooking at home, we realized we could live off our incomes. The huge cost difference was not something we cared to look too closely at for years. We eat a lot of quickie foods - pasta and canned sauce, hamburgers, sandwiches, canned soups. He loves to cook so that makes it easy for me - I like simple foods that I can fix in 10 minutes (cheese and crackers comes to mind, ha) . Now when we go out we pay cash and usually the bill makes us swear of dining out until the next special occasion ....Smile

Brandy, I'm 43 with a one year old- I did foster care when I had one.  It was very challenging to deal with the state. I think now I'm too old for another, but I will hopefully be a nice grandma someday!  My oldest is 20.

    Babs,

I can't have more but that was a choice we made. I may love babies but having them is hard on me and we had health concerns with them as well.

     Walt,

My husband and I both had high metabolisms when we were young too. We can't eat the way we used to either, lol.
