    sewing

I am sewing a wedding dress for my daughter.

She saw a picture on the J. Crew website and we are copying the dress. (she wants only this dress0

The design was on the material and the closes we came is a taffeta material with an overlay design with flowers.

We are taking 3 patterns to make the dress, one for the skirt, one for the top, and one for the collar.

Is there anyway I can attach the overlay to each individual piece of the skirt so it looks like the design is on the material itself?

Any hints on sewing with this dress would be an answer to prayer.

    Hi Lou Ellen

I sew but I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to attempt a wedding dress!  Big Smile

Lately I have found the ladies over at  www.sewforum.com have been a god sent for my sewing problems.  If you go over there I'm sure they will have some suggestions for you.  You do have to join the forum to post but IMHO its worth it.

Good luck on your venture & please do let us know how you make out!

I can't picture exactly what you are asking, but I'll take a shot at it. Would a form of quilting or appliqueing the overlay to the skirt pieces before sewing the pieces together work? Or a fabric glue to attach small segments of the design and than attaching pearls or beads around the edges of the glued on segments.  I looked up the J. Crew website to find what dress you were referring to, but didn't know which one it was. Try a Google search on embellishing a wedding dress and see what you can find. E

If you can find a web site picture like the dress you want, let us know what it is. I'm curious about what you are doing. E
