Rebate Checks Should Be in the Mail by Spring

"The checks aren't in the mail, but they will be soon. President Bush signed legislation Wednesday to rush rebates ranging from $300 to $1,200 to millions of people, the centerpiece of government efforts to brace the wobbly economy. First, though, you must file your 2007 tax return."

    We'll get $3,000-

another credit card paid off, potentially, although I think at that point we will need it for living expenses-

I think it's the amount on line 44 of the 1040.

Thanks, Brandy.  I had input a wrong figure near the beginning, so it wasn't taking the rest.  Looks like we'll get $1800.00.  Nothing for the working kids, though, since they were claimed as dependents, even tho our older dd22 is nearly full time at her job...thanks for posting the article and calculator!  Liz

I think we will get $2400. Planning on getting new tires and brakes, setting aside some cash for garage sale season and putting the rest towards debt. The garage sale season cash will go towards clothing for the year and hopefully a few items of my wishlist.

I wonder if my daughter will get a rebate. She is only seventeen but she filed taxes on her own and we did not take her as a dependent so that she would not have to owe more in taxes.

Brandy, I would think so. I hope my 19 year old gets it. I would think if they are working legally and not claimed on anyone else that they would get it. Babs
