Maybe rounding down makes us feel more optomistic. Smile  Since my last post it has gone up to $3.58 9 here. It jumped about 30 cents a gallon here yesterday. Imagine my surprise wen the news report yesterday said it could jump to $4 a gallon this weekend. Crying

    Re: Gas Prices

We're up to $3.24 here. It will probably go higher over the weekend and Memorial Day, but I wonder if it will ever come back down again.

Here in central North Carolina it's gone up to $3.14.  I too wonder Pat if it will come back down over the holiday.

It was $3.49 this week (and that was at the cheapie place).  I about cried.  Can help wondering "How people are managing this in their lives".  I just home from the grocery store.... that's depressing too.

Yeah. It does make you wonder how people are coping. Groceries are higher too, what with this and that. Scary stuff. And of course, here in Detroit, we really don't have much public transit. (And yes, that's on purpose. Thanks, Big 3! To be fair, though, they got rid of public transit in the 50s, way before anyone could have guessed what would happen.)

I'm very fortunate to be able to take a bus to and from work. Believe me, around here that's a rare thing. So the gas thing isn't hurting me the way it's hurting a lot of people.

I don't think it's gonna get better. Of course, I'm sort of a pessimist, so...here's hoping!

    Re: Gas Prices

I put $20 worth in and got a half tank of gas. :(  I'm glad I don't have to drive back and forth to work every day. I'm with you, The Big Seester. I don't think it's going to get better. I'm not always a pessimist, but I think we've been able to see this coming for a long time. My feeling is that we'd better get ready, because we're in for a rocky ride from here on out.

People are coping by using their credit cards more.

Sounds like trouble to me. Coping with rising prices by going into debt doesn't work in the long run.
